Ed Williams

January 10, 1949 — August 26, 2015

Edward (Ed) Williams loving father, beloved husband and caring friend died August 26, 2015, in Denver, Colorado. He was 66 years old. Ed and his twin brother Elliott were born to Edna Christiansen Williams and Bill Williams in Rock Springs, Wyoming, on January 10, 1949. The family, also including brother Bob and sister Kathleen, moved to Salt Lake City soon after the twins' birth. Ed enjoyed a wonderful, nurturing childhood in the care of loving, devoted parents. A highlight of his youth was playing little league baseball with the enthusiastic support of his parents who regularly carpooled the team to out-of-town games. Ed attended Highland High School where his natural eye for photography soon became apparent. One of the great joys of his high school years was serving as photographer for his high school yearbook. He graduated from high school in 1967. Photography was a lifelong interest and in ensuing years he filled his homes with beautiful photographs of scenic sites as well as endearing photos of his beloved grandchildren. Ed attended Westminster College in Salt Lake City for two years then transferred to Brooks Institute of Photography where he finished his bachelor of fine arts degree. In 1978, following several years working as a commercial photographer in Salt Lake City, Ed accepted a position as company photographer at Unicover Corporation in Cheyenne, Wyoming. It was there that he met Cynthia Hull whom he married on February 16, 1980. The couple were the proud parents of two sons, Samuel (Sam) Edward Williams and Scott Russell Williams born in 1981 and 1983 respectively. In 1987, the family moved to Denver, Colorado where Ed was employed as a sales representative in the flooring industry covering the Wyoming, Western Nebraska and Eastern Colorado territory. After several years, he moved to an inside position with his company. He retired in 2011 from Queen Sales where he held the position of operations manager. Ed loved his family more than anything in his life and was always a gentle and caring father, husband, grandfather, brother and friend. He is survived by his wife Cindy, sons Sam (Brook), Littleton, Colorado; Scott (Athena), League City, Texas; three grandsons, Conan, Max and Gavin; sister Kathleen Vordos, brother Bob (Sue), brother Elliott (Stephanie) and numerous nephews, nieces and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents W.L. Williams and Edna C. Williams as well as nephew Steven Vordos. There will be a memorial service on Monday, August 31, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 3101 South Wadsworth Blvd., Denver, CO 80229. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Denver Dumb Friends League. Please leave your memories of Ed and condolence messages with the family below.
