Charles B. Hemans, Jr., 69, of Thornton, Colorado passed away on Saturday, August 31, 2019.

He was born in Auburn, New York and was the son of Jean and Charles Hemans.

Chuck was a Vietnam Veteran having served six years with the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a graduate of California State University Fresno with a B.S. in Biology. He was employed by Tulare County Health Department as a Registered Environmental Health Specialist.

Chuck was an avid golfer and a New York Yankee fan.

He is survived by his wife, Marjorie (Harmon); his sons, Andrew C. (Martha) Hemans, of California, Aaron J. (Kori) Hemans, of Colorado; daughter, Brynn S. (Charles) Saponara, of California; granddaughters, Emma and Madisyn Hemans and Dezireah Cerrillo, of California and Reagan Hemans of Colorado; grandsons, Zachary Hemans of California, Aiden Hemans of Colorado and Gordon and Everett Saponara of California; brothers, John, Larry and Thomas Hemans; sister, Peggy Lynn; sisters-in-law, Maureen Walsh and Karen (Robert) Brambley and many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Chuck’s Life will be held in Colorado at the convenience of his family. Another Celebration of Life will be held in July of 2020 in Auburn, New York.

The family owes a debt of gratitude to the staffs at University of Colorado Health, Anschutz, Aurora, Colorado and Halcyon Hospice for their care of Chuck during the past year.

Contributions in memory of Chuck may be made to any American Veteran organization of your choice.

  7. So many years, so many wonderful memories. Chuck was such a good and honorable man and had an amazing life, accomplishing so much. My most poignant memory is of him singing “Mama, Look Sharp,” which brought tears to the eyes of all who heard it. His battle is over, may he rest in peace.

  16. Chuck and I shared an office with many years ago and I have nothing but fond memories of him. Always intense, confident, and a always a great friend, there when it mattered the most.   20. Adding a memory should be very easy, there are so many from our years together in Auburn.
    Just thinking of the New Years family “pajama party” brings a smile and chuckle. There are many, many more, all filled with laughter and love. Chuck was always an unforgettable presence in our group of theater friends.
    As Chaplain of our local Marine Corps League unit, I send condolence messages to the families of Marines who have died. I want to do the same for my dear friend: “He served our nation with honor, may he now rest in peace.” Semper Fi.
