June 16, 1971 ~ May 31, 2019

Born in: Denver, Colorado
Resided in: Brighton, Colorado

David (Dave) Wayne Dunning, husband, father, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, brother/son in law and friend of many, died unexpectedly on May 31, 2019 at the age of 47.

Dave is survived by his wife and best friend, Rose Dunning; his children and apples of his eyes, Marissa and Isaiah; his loving sister, Tina Justice; nephew and niece Tyler and Chelsea Justice (Korey Swain, Rilynn Justice Swain). Dave is the nephew of Rita and Larry Brown, Sandy and Bobby Carneyhan, Connie McCloud, Tommy and Shirley Tyler. He is also an In law to Margaret and Charles Stover, LaGuardia and Barboza/Alamin families. Dave is predeceased by his father and mother, Wallace and Fredia Dunning; and brother in law, Wade Justice.

Dave was born in Denver, Colorado on June 16, 1971 to Wallace and Fredia. He graduated from Westminster High School in 1989 and worked in the roofing industry for 30 years. Married Rose on April 1, 2000, who he would say is his world and best thing that ever happened to him.

Dave was a devoted family man, dedicated employee, softball player and avid sports fan. He enjoyed watching and going to Rockies, Broncos, Avalanche and Nuggets games and let’s not forget NASCAR. Dave was famous for always having a smile and bringing smiles to other people’s faces. He was a big kid, always showing whose boss by competing with his children, nieces and nephews. At the same time, he was the family’s protector making them feel safe and secure just by his presence and of course his big muscles. Muscles so big that to this day he has yet to lose an arm-wrestling match.
He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him.

Memorial Service will be held Thursday, 6/6, 11am at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 9998 Grant Street, Thornton.

  1. My deepest thoughts and love to Rose, Isaiah and Marisa… Dave was so kind to me always and I know he loves you and wasn’t ready to leave. His guidance and example are a direct reflection of him in you. I pray for all who came into his beautiful life and I know he will be in our presence forever. I will miss his politeness and quiet ways but heaven has received a loving angel to watch over us left behind. Love you so much,
    Aunt Barbara ????❤️

  2. I am terribly sorry for your loss. May the God of all comfort provide your family with strength during this very difficult time. Sending lots of love from our family to yours. (2 Corinthinas 1:3,4)

  3. Rose, I’m so sorry for your loss. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. Please let me know if there is anything we can do to help you.

  4. Rose, Isaiah & Marissa,

Words are never adequate in moments like these. I will say though, that my heart goes out to all of you. Dave was a wonderful husband, father, cousin, and friend. He always brought humor and joy to our family celebrations. It was of great sadness and shock when I heard of his passing. I have all of you in my prayers, and I hope through time that all of you will heal knowing that he will be your Guardian Angel through life.

    With love, Alysse

  5. Dave Dunning was not just a brother-in-law he was true family. Over the 19 years Dave always smiled regardless of the situation he was in. He bonded well with others and when asking for his help he never said no. Some how we convinced him to help us finish our basement where he encountered some new experiences which I am sure he regretted, but he never complained. He put up with me, which is a challenge in its self but he also put up with my husband and kids. My oldest was excited for our upcoming family get together because Dave was the one person she wanted her boyfriend to meet! Dave was just an amazing person who we loved dearly and it truly hurts my heart that he left us so early. Me and my entire family will truly miss seeing his face, listening to him give Isaiah a hard time and watching him try to get Samantha to talk to him.

Rose, Marissa, Isaiah no one will understand what you are going through but just know that we are all here for you and are only a call away if you need anything.

    Tina,
There are no words I can say to make this loss less painful, just know that we are also here for you.

    Love You All!

  6. Rose, My deepest sympathy is with you and your family. If there anything I can do please let me know. Take care of yourself and your kids. God Bless.

  7. Love and prayers for all the family. Looks so much like his Mom Freida, my first cousin. May God’s love surround you during this time of grief and in days ahead.

  8. Our deepest heartfelt condolences to Rose, her children and family members that are experiencing the greatest loss imaginable. May you find comfort in knowing that Dave lived a wonderful family life, was truly loved by all he knew and will be remembered for his goodness. We pray for God’s blessings to your entire family today and always.

  9. I’m sos sorry for your loss. Dave was always sweet and kind in school. I will keep you all in my prayers.

  10. Rose, Isaiah, Marissa and family,

The shock of losing someone so dear to you, knowing you just had them a phone call away, or the good morning kiss before the day took its shape, it can’t be undone or changes made to have an outcome more certain. The change in one day, that changes all the days now to come for each of you, is certain.
We love so dearly, so tightly and unconditionally, may that love for Dave always be, as his for you. We know how happy your family always seemed to be, the four of you made it so. We pray mostly for his soul and for you his family, that you continue to fulfill the dreams you sowed together.
    With love & Sympathy,
    Angela & Curt Hurst
