James Robert Wagner
July 29, 1994-April 5, 2019
A devoted son, brother, and friend, James’ was a constant ray of light and relief for all. He explored many interests, from his prideful American flag ceramic paintings to his Lego mastery. A master guitarist playing Smoke on the Water…the first chords and only the first, James music interests did not end there, leading up to his impressive percussion playing to the rhythm of horses in Monty Python and the Holy Grail. James attended Colorado State University – Fort Collins and the University of Colorado – Denver, James’ life touched many. Whether he was cheering for Von Miller to sack Tom Brady – James’ arch nemesis – or basking in the sun on a summer afternoon hoping the Rockies make it through Rocktober, James loved sports. When he wasn’t studying stats on the latest games, he was trekking up 14’ers or ripping drives off the tee while enjoying a Scotch and a cigar. The Eagle Scout in him always shined anytime family and friends needed help fixing things, or his parents needed help navigating the annual trip to the farm in Kansas. He was a goofy kid known for his dry and intellectual humor. He will be missed dearly, but he will never leave us. Comforted in death believing in God’s love and salvation due to his strong Faith. We will wait patiently to see his beautiful eyes at Heaven’s gates, and we will always remember to practice the selflessness he shared with all. Stay classy, San Diego! Survived by parents Steven & Andra; sisters Morgan Wagner (Michael Cusworth), Stacey Wagner, Kelley Morris; brother Matthew Wagner; partner Kathryn Wilson; beloved pet Maggie.
