  1. My family and I send our condolences to you. Your son was a very brave young man to do what he did. His selfless act saved many others. He gave his life to protect the lives of his classmates and for that he is a hero. You could just tell by looking at him that he was a very special young man and raised to be better than the world is prepared to give. We send our love and prayers to you during this very difficult time. Rest assured your son is in the Kingdom of Heaven this day.

  2. Thank you, Castillo family, for bringing a light to the world like Kendrick. As a father, I can’t imagine your grief. I’ve prayed for you all to find comfort in the appreciation so many have extended to you because of his selfless act.

  6. A HERO INDEED! What an amazing selfless act of courage and bravery that he laid down his life for his classmates. Kendrick is resting in the arms of Jesus now. Words can never express all the sorrow you must be feeling. Please know that there are so many who are praying for you and will continue to hold you in prayer for a very long time. I did not know Kendrick but so many did and from the stories I have heard and I have read it is no surprise that he stood up that day to protect so many. God Bless you always!

  7. Let no one look down on you because of your youth, but be a continuing example of love, faith, and purity to believers. – 1 Timothy 4:12…….we remember Kendrick and John, his dad, as Ushers here at Notre Dame Parish…….he was a fine, well spoken young man even at that time…….now he is a national example of faith in God…….May God’s Peace be with your family.

  8. “The most difficult roads lead us to the most beautiful places.” Kendrick really was an Angel among us. I look forward to one day meeting him (at the gates of Heaven)…..till then he shall be remembered forever for who he was on Earth and especially for that transcendent smile glowing with kindness.

  9. “God is close to the broken-hearted.” May God bathe you with His comfort. I cannot imagine your sorrow. God bless all of you. Kendrick is a beautiful soul who, no doubt, was used by God against evil. May his reward be great.

I have been reading and hearing of Kendrick’s action of ultimate bravery.
    Our heart breaks.

SO amazing..What a person of courage and inner strength.
He truly ‘ layed his life down for his friends’…no greater love!

I have been reading about his interest in robotics, engineering , ..jeeps..etc.
Sounds like he was quite a guy. Sounds like his smile let everyone know the light he carried inside of him.
. Know that my husband and I send our deepest condolences.
    God IS with you+

  22. Dear Mr. and Mrs. Castillo, I am deeply sorry for your loss. I cannot fathom your pain. I have a son and my mind can’t go there to the thought of losing him. I do know the Lord gives us the strength we need to get through our losses and He is closest to the brokenhearted. Join your sorrows with that of Our Holy Mother and she will carry them to Her son who will then carry them to the Father. I truly believe your son is in the loving arms of Our Lord and no matter how long we are on this earth, it will be but a brief moment compared to all eternity where you will one day be with your son forever in the company of all those we love who have gone before us and with all the angels and saints. I shall pray a rosary in thanksgiving of your Kendrick who paid the ultimate price to save brothers and sisters in Christ. God bless you.

  23. John 15:13 Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.

You are truly a hero. I will remember you and your bravery throughout my lifetime.

  24. My condolences to the family. Praying for your comfort. I am Herman and Lucy Saiz daughter they raised. My prayers are with your family.

  25. I am so very sorry for your loss. No parent should have to bury their child. Kendrick’s actions prevented many other parents from the same pain and loss. May you be comforted in with peace and love knowing your son is a Hero, and will always be remembered.

  26. I can’t imagine the magnitude and severity of your grief, and all the additional emotions that surround your loss. I just wanted to thank you for raising an amazing human.

  27. A poem attributed to Corrie ten Boom: “My life is but a weaving between my God and me. I do not choose the colors. He weaveth steadily. Ofttimes he weaveth sorrow and I, with foolish pride, forget He sees the upper, and I the underside. Not ‘til the loom is silent and shuttles cease to fly will God unroll the canvas and explain the reason why. The dark threads are as needful in the skillful Weaver’s hand as the threads of gold and silver in the pattern He has planned.” I am thinking of you and your family at this time. May your memories of Kendrick and the type of person he was bring you comfort, and the knowledge that he is in heaven give you peace.

  28. What a wonderful young man with incredibly special parents. Kendrick’s legacy will be remembered forever.

  29. My name is Patty Trujillo I wanted to send my deepest condolences to you and your family May good bless you????

  30. To the Castillo family,

May you find peace through this difficult time. Kendrick was brave beyond words. We will continue to pray for you and your family.

  31. To the Castillo family,
As I watched the news this past week, I wish I would have met your son Kendrick. The words used to describe him were so positive and caring. I do not have children so I can’t even imagine what you are going through. These are the situations we just can’t understand but need to look to God for peace and guidance. I lost both my parents to suicide and know that without God and support from family and friends, the road to peace could not have happened. I am part of the community and if I can ever do anything for you and your family, please let me know. May we all live like Kendrick. God Bless you.

  32. To Kendrick and his family,

I am so deeply troubled and upset over the loss of this beautiful and talented young man for absolutely no good reason what so ever. My nephews were in the school during this tragedy and I want peace and safe world free from violence. If I can help you in anyway, please contact me. I am forever sorry for your loss of your son.

  34. My deepest condolences to family and friends of Kendrick Castillo’s. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. What a courageous young man. May God Bless him and his family and friends.

  35. With a stunning presence of mind, your son saved so many people and distinguished himself with his act of selfless bravery.

I know it is a very small comfort to you in this time of terrible loss but your sons legacy of exceptional action will be remembered forever.

So sorry for your loss. D.Pike, Castle Rock

  36. R.I.P Kendrick as you are an amazing HERO. Spread your wings and fly high with the Angel’s as they as well as the good Lord were waiting for you with open arms. To the Castillo family thank you for an amazing young man who left this earth a HERO. My sincerest condolences.

  37. I don’t live in Colorado, I don’t know Kendrick but I have teenage boys, one the same age as Kendrick, and this affects every parent who sends their children to school everyday. No parent should fear sending their child to school. My heart is broken for his parents and his friends. Kendrick decided he was going to stand up to this threat that plagues our country. He made a difference and paid the ultimate sacrifice, like a soldier of this country. It will be hard for the survivors to know someone laid their life down for them, but that’s what hero’s do, Kendrick is a hero and a soldier for the people. No words, no praise, nothing will comfort the loss of a child, but with that said, he didn’t die in vain, he had purpose, he saved lives. I am so sorry for your loss. I wish that young people didn’t have to make these types of decisions. My deepest condolences to the Castillo family. Rest In Peace, Kendrick Castillo.

  38. I never had the opportunity to meet you, and quite honestly, may have never met you considering I’m 20 yrs your senior. I just wanted to show my deepest condolences to you and your family. I also would love to say to you and your family/friends who were blessed to have loved you in the short time you were here on Earth, that you ARE a HERO, AN ANGEL, and One AMAZING young man. I have so much admiration and respect for you for the way you acted selflessly to save your classmates the way you had. If only we had more young people like you to lead by example and be something AMAZING. You were welcomed home with the Lord far too soon and You have thousands upon thousands of people who will remain admiring and remembering you for the rest of our lives. God Bless You as well as your family.

  39. My deepest condolences to the friends and family of Kendrick. May your treasured memories bring you joy, and may ‘the Father of tender mercies and the God of all comfort’ give you strength, along with a measure of peace for your grieving hearts at this most difficult time.
    2 Corinthians 1:3

  40. Every time I see his face and remember his story I get weak. You can just see the kindness of his heart glowing in his eyes. I will triumph for him #STEMfam

  41. My sweet innocent child, you made the ultimate sacrifice for those that knew you as a child, as a friend, and even as a stranger. You have helped me believe in the grace of God again! I am a better mother because of the person you were and the life you lived! I think of you everyday and miss you deeply. The Heavens are a better place because of You, and that gives me hope!

  42. Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. – John 15:13

Rest in peace you fine and selfless young man. May your family and friends be comforted in knowing the heart of who you truly were. So brave. So rare. So inspiring.
