Margaret Ann Chando died peacefully on December 2, 2018 at the age of 82.
Margaret was born on September 21, 1936 in Sutton Surrey England to Charles and Lillian Sutton. She married Emil Chando while he was stationed in England with the Air Force. Emil swept Margaret off her feet and were married in a quaint English church. For over 60 years they traveled many times to England, Scotland, Wales, and many Air Force bases in the United States. Margaret loved being a Wife, Mother and Nanny.
Margaret enjoyed baking, knitting, sewing, and rubbing brasses in churches throughout England with her husband. When Margaret was young, she loved acting and starred on stage in London. One of her favorite roles was playing “Alice” in Alice in Wonderland. Margaret was a wonderful seamstress throughout her life, making clothes and costumes for her children and grandchildren. Margaret always loved dressing up with her grandchildren and putting on fashion shows. Margaret thoroughly enjoyed knitting, so much so that it was one of the last she things she was able to do with Alzheimer’s. She knitted so many blankets and scarfs that her family gave them to many homeless people in the Denver area to keep them warm. Margaret loved to bowl with her husband until she could no longer pick up her ball but would still go and cheer for her husband.
Margaret’s children remember their Mum as the most generous, loving, and patient women who always encouraged them to pursue their dreams. Her grandchildren adored their Nana as she always took such great care of them. Nana loved spending time with each of her grand-children sharing whatever they were interested in, from dinosaurs, history, crocheting, ballooning, and making their favorite foods like perogies and jello cubes. She loved taking them to the Zoo and the Wow Children’s Museum where she helped them put on plays. She was the finest and most loving Mum and Nanny!
Margaret was an active and dedicated member of the Catholic Church and often served as a Eucharistic Minister and Lector.
Margaret is survived by her devoted and loving husband Emil. Her son Nicholas Chando, wife Tonya, granddaughter Elena. Her daughter Carolyn Chando, grandson Shane. Her son Patrick Chando, wife Mary, granddaughter Aubry Ott, husband Brian, great-granddaughter Emily, and grandson Morghan. Dear Ed and family,
I was so sorry to hear of Margaret’s passing. She was a lovely lady. She was so kind to me when I started singing in the Saturday choir at Saint Theresa. She would always smile and hum and generally be just as sweet as can be. I hope that you will always remember her as the wonderful woman that she was; Kind and generous with a compliment or a hug.
May The Lord hold you in His arms and may He welcome His faithful servant, Margaret, into His Eternal Home
