Alexander Vaughn Miller, age 22, died in a fire at his home in Denver, Colorado. Alex was born in Denver on November 8, 1999 to Kathleen LaVaune. He came to live with Rod and Holly Miller at age 1½. He lived in Denver, Arvada, and Aurora and graduated from Aurora’s Gateway High School.
Alex worked at the Office of Children’s Representatives on the advisory panel. He was involved in numerous organizations including Emmaus Church, Project Foster Power, CHAFFEE, Elevating Connections and Shiloh House. He wanted to make a difference in the lives of teens in the foster care system, and those afflicted with disabilities and mental health issues.
Alex was also an accomplished artist who specialized in photo realistic paintings. He sold many of his paintings and gifted many others.
Alex is survived by his mom and dad Holly and Rod Miller, his sister Elyse Nelson, Grandmother Imogene Miller, and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He is preceded in death by his birth mom Katy, and his grandparents Joan and Frank Cope, and Oscar Miller.
He was loved by many, and will be greatly missed.
