Barbara grew up in Grand Junction, CO, Denver CO and Ft Collins CO graduating high school at Grand Junction High in June of 1948. Barbara attended Mesa State college in Grand Junction where she obtained an Associate degree in the Arts in 1950. She also attended Denver University. She met her soul mate and husband Edmund (Ted) Waller at Mesa State college. They married on August 4, 1951 and celebrated 63 years of marriage on August 4th, 2014.
Barbara held positions as a Medical Receptionist and Medical Transcriptionist. She worked as a Business Manager for the Luke Society which was a non-profit organization dedicated to medical care. Later she started Dessimals Inc. where she performed book-keeping for several medical practices. Barbara taught Sunday school for many years at Brentwood Methodist church in Denver.
Mom and Dad became parents to Wendy on July 16, 1957 and Ken on September 29, 1959 residing at 2395 S. Yates St in Denver, CO. Eventually they moved to the Bear Valley area in Denver at 4900 W. Amherst Ave. They both were very active in their kid’s activities with Wendy in Job’s Daughters and Girl Scouts and Ken with baseball, football and Indian Guides. Mom and Dad were very active in the inception of the Southwest Denver Little League baseball. They helped to build several playing fields on the west side of the Mullen High School property and the “snack shack” located in the middle of the fields while also serving on the board of directors. Mom and Dad’s final resting place in Ft Logan cemetery overlook the site of where those fields were located.
Mom and Dad became Grandparents to Danielle Waller, Tyler Waller, Joseph Todd, Michael Todd and David Todd. They later became Great Grandparents to Kylie McCann, Kynzie McCann, Brynlee Waller, Tucker Waller, Chloe Todd, and Andrew Todd.
In 1978 after successfully raising two children (Wendy and Ken) Barbara and Ted moved into the Governors Ranch neighborhood and were the first residents of that community. They made several friends as a part of that community participating in Poker, Bridge, Gourmet Club and many other holiday and fun activities. Their friends were a huge part of their lives together. They loved to entertain and opened their house many times to friends and family where the food and drink were delicious and plentiful. Mom and Dad both loved to cook. Mom and Dad eventually moved into a patio home in the Governors Ranch community. After Dad’s passing Mom’s friends and neighbors took exceptional care of her which we are forever grateful. After a year of various hospital stays with various serious medical condition’s she entered hospice care at home where several friends and family visited her bringing smiles, tears, memories, well wishes, prayers, and cookies. Barbara’s caregiver Sara was by her side until her passing with exceptional 24 hour care. The family is forever grateful for her loving and kind care.
Barbara loved celebrating holidays with large family get togethers. She would cook huge meals that were so delicious and then she would encourage you eat until it was gone. She loved annual camping trips at Granby Lake with all the family. Her “camping cookies” were the best. Mom loved to play cards. She would often teach the Grand kids how to play different card games.
Mexico trips were some of her favorite vacations. Puerto Vallarta was a favorite where she and Dad went often. She continued to work well past the age of 65 and saved her money to take her family including all the grand kids to Disney World and Mexico. Those memories will be with us forever.
Mom’s friends were very special to her. She loved spending time with them even if it was just talking on the phone. She loved gardening, crafts and specialized in painting mountain scenes.
