Boyd Andrews Fenton died on August 21, 2021, in Centennial, CO where he was surrounded by his family. He was born in North Girard, PA on March 19, 1930. He is survived by the love of his life, Lucile Passmore Fenton, as well as his four children, Boyd Jr. (Wendy) Centennial, CO, Dr. Glen Fenton (Mary) of St. Louis, MO, James Randolph (Randy) Fenton (Emie), Hermosa Beach, CA, and Gail Fenton Reimer (Brandon) Redwood City, CA, and his Grandchildren, Chloe and Cole Reimer, and Skye and Summer Fenton. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and two sisters.
Boyd earned his Chemical Engineering degree at Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA. He met Lucile in 1954 and they were married in November of 1955. Boyd served in the army for six years and then headed to the sunny, blue skies of Colorado where he lived out his life.
He owned the Colorado Knitting Mills which made custom sweaters and hats for Colorado’s ski resorts in the 60’s and 70’s.
“Padre,” as he was affectionately referred to by his sons, never met a cardboard box he didn’t like and could always be counted on for pieces, parts and tools to repair whatever was broken. He was a woodworker and would often retire to his workshop and reappear with a finished product.
He also was a modern-day renaissance man-- baker, gardener, artist, housebuilder, mason, deck builder, and handyman extraordinaire. Master of pun humor and a fantastic Christmas cookie, pie, and fruitcake maker. His pie crust was unmatched. We later learned the real secret was that it was rolled between waxed paper.
He and Lucile loved to travel, covering all the continents and seas, except for Antarctica where it was far too cold! Some of their favorite trips were Safari in Africa and cruising down the Nile, as well as, weeks on the beach in Mexico!
The family will hold a private memorial service. Those wishing to honor his life can watch a Bronco’s game with a slice of thin-crust pizza or make a donation in his name to Porter Hospice.
