Carlo de Guzman, age 44, went home to be with the Lord on November 21, 2020.
He was born on August 16, 1976 in Manila, Philippines. At the age of 8, he immigrated to America with his family. He grew up in Norwalk, California and graduated from Norwalk High School in 1995.
As a young man and well into his adulthood, he enjoyed music, played the acoustic and bass guitar, skateboarding, arts and loved food! He completed his Associates Degree at Cerritos College and later pursued a career as a machinist. Carlo worked for Spec Tool Co. in Santa Fe Springs, California for 8 years.
In 2000, Carlo met Fe in Makati, Philippines during a vacation. They patiently and faithfully committed to their long distance relationship for 8 years. They were married on May 25, 2009 in Manila, Philippines, then two years later, Fe and their son, Ethan, joined him in Los Angeles. They relocated to Colorado in 2016 where he worked as a machinist with Primus Aerospace until his passing. One of his favorite places to visit in Colorado was Aspen. He was in awe of the beauty His Creator had made.
Carlo was a born again Christian. His desire and love for Jesus Christ generated a passion to seek the truth in Scripture. He loved sermons by John MacArthur, Tom Pennington, Paul Washer, and Charles Spurgeon, to name a few. His love for God’s word was evident in his life through his words and actions. One of his favorite passages in the Bible was Psalm 37:4-7:
4 Delight yourself in the LORD; And He will give you the desires of your heart.
5 Commit your way to the LORD, Trust also in Him, and He will do it.
6 He will bring forth your righteousness as the light And your judgment as the noonday.
7 Rest in the LORD and wait patiently for Him; Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, Because of the man who carries out wicked schemes.
His assurance was in the promise of his eternal life to be with his Maker. In the days before his homecoming, Carlo sent text messages to his family stating, "I am so happy because I found peace by God's grace" and “if God takes me, I’ll see y’all in heaven.” He also gleaned from Pastor John MacArthur’s quote stating “that he's most happy that death means no more sin.” His last text message to the family brings both pain and joy at the same time when he said: “If God takes me, I’m happy. I know I am meeting my Lord.”
He is survived by Carolino de Guzman Jr. and Victoria Serapio (parents), Fe de Guzman (wife), Ethan (son), Bella and Aria (toy poodles), Bernard (brother) & Lady Ann de Guzman, Marrion (sister) & Ner de Leon, Vincent (brother) & Rachel de Guzman, Mirriel (sister) & Emmanuel Lazaro, Jr., nieces: Nicca, Bea, Tracy, Khate, Hannah, Kayla, Aralyn, Madeleine and Nia; nephews: Dylan, Isaiah and Isaac.
