Charles "Chuck" Lee Rickertsen

Charles “Chuck” Lee Rickertsen, 68, of Lakewood, Colorado passed away unexpectedly January 5, 2022, unable to recover from a massive heart attack he recently suffered. He was born September 22, 1953, in Council Bluffs, Iowa to Charles and Margery Rickertsen.

Chuck married Terri Owen in 1972 and they had four children, Chuck Jr., Jon, Jennifer and Stephanie. They later divorced.

Chuck married Kathleen Hemming on December 21, 1990, in Morrison, Colorado. Kathy’s children, Chris, Merrill and Celeste joined their union. Their daughter, Katy, who completed their blended family, was born in 1991. Chuck and Kathy were later sealed for time and all eternity in the Denver Colorado Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Chuck learned the painting trade in Job Corp. He then became the owner and operator of S&S Painting Inc. in Colorado for over 30 years. After closing the business and exploring other career options, he returned to become a painting associate at Home Depot where he was loved and well respected. He was always a hard worker and took great pride in his responsibilities, always making sure his department was in top notch shape. He earned numerous Homer awards for going above and beyond.

Despite being known as a workaholic, Chuck always found time for his family. He was a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities. He freely served those in the Church and in his community and was known fondly for his many acts of love and service.

In his earlier years, Chuck was an avid snow skier, and together with his family, have many fond memories spent in the mountains, on and off the ski hill. He loved watching western movies and tv shows and he loved his Oldies music.

Chuck is survived by his wife, Kathy Rickertsen; children, Chuck (Christina) Rickertsen, Jon (Ashley) Rickertsen, Jennifer (Bob) Ross, Chris (Joslin) Hemming, Merrill “Mo” (Alicia) Hemming, Stephanie (Brian) Pangburn, Celeste (Kevin) Blinn, and Katy (Nick) Mason. Chuck is also survived by 30 grandchildren, his mother, Marge Rickertsen and two sisters, Gloria and Margaret. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles and a brother, Don.

A visitation will be held on Thursday January 13th from 5:00-7:00pm at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 3101 S. Wadsworth Blvd., Lakewood, Colorado 80227.

An additional visitation will be held on Friday January 14th, from 9:00-9:45am., followed by the funeral service at 10:00am, both to be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 9227 W. Dartmouth Place, Lakewood, Colorado 80227.

Burial will be later in the Cache Clawson Cemetery in Tetonia, Idaho.
