Cyril Ball

May 7, 1947 — April 21, 2021

Cyril Francis Ball was born May 7, 1947 in Lebanon, Kentucky to Cyril Francis Ball and Louise Walker Ball. He grew up in the small town of New Haven, Kentucky and became the oldest of a family of twelve children. Upon graduation from St. Catherine High School, he became a student at the University of Dayton where he earned a degree in Computer Science-a visionary choice at the time. After a brief time in Ohio, he discovered the outdoors of Colorado and moved to the Denver area where he established his career in computer science.

He was an enthusiastic fisherman and member of Trout Unlimited. He also enjoyed creating music online and covered many miles on his road bike. He was proud of participating twice in Ride the Rockies, as well as other biking events. He was a student of Buddhism and the practice of meditation.

Cy’s survivors include Laurie, his wife of 41 years, son Dr. Derek Nelson Ball (Dr. Katherine Fox) of Cellardyke, Scotland and daughter Erin Kathleen Masich of Denver. He was extremely proud of his three grandchildren, Ansel Ball Fox, Charles Masich and Margot Masich.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Cy’s honor to:
