Delores Elaine DeBlauw (nee McDermott)
Passed away peacefully on 9/13/21 at home, surrounded by her family. Dee is survived by her husband of 61 years, Robert DeBlauw, and their children Kimberly, Michael and Cynthia, their spouses and eight grandchildren; as well as sisters Dianne Dixon and Mary McDermott and their families. She was predeceased by her brothers Jerry and Tom, their spouses and her parents.
Dee was born in Oto, Iowa, attended Wayne State College in Nebraska and obtained her AAS degree in Medical Records at Arapahoe Community College. She accompanied her husband to various states as he pursued his own degrees and career, working in every location in various fields, including non-profit, retail, and local schools. Her 15 years as the office manager for St. Louis Children’s Hospital’s Social Services department were recognized with several awards. After earning her degree, Dee worked for 20 years as a credentialist for various insurance companies.
Dee was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Her counsel and love will be missed by all. She was a champion for children--not only with her family and through her work, but with years of volunteer service for The Compassionate Friends and Compassionate Kids. Dee loved visiting her children’s families in California, Virginia, and Missouri and in six different countries. She also relished hosting them in Colorado.
