Edward (Ed) Walker passed away peacefully at home in Highlands Ranch, CO on 7/18/21 with his loving wife Mary at his side. Ed attended the prestigious Art Institute of Chicago with an intense love of art and music but ultimately graduated from the University of Illinois with a business degree. He proudly served in the United States Army as a member of the 25th infantry division (Tropic Lightening) in Korea. His unit was nicknamed The Wolfhounds who have a respected reputation still today due to their motto “No Fear on Earth”. Ed epitomized that motto living and loving life to the fullest.
After eight years of running Delta Record Distributors in New Orleans, Louisiana Ed moved to Los Angeles where he met his future wife, Mary. They were married on June 25, 1976, celebrating their 45th anniversary this year. Ed’s love for music paved the way for a very successful career as a music industry executive for 50 years. He worked with labels such as Decca Records, Stax Records, Atlantic Records, Atco Records and RCA. He owned and operated Baxter Northup Music store in Los Angeles for 30 years which was established in 1906 and is the oldest music store in California. Ed and Mary both had a passion for golf and traveling which they frequently combined for many wonderful vacations together.
Ed is survived by his wife, Mary and his children, Theresa, Edward Scott and Lawrence.
A memorial service will be held at Fort Logan Cemetery on August 11, 2021 at 2:15 PM where Ed will receive full military honors.
