Enid Dawn Sanderson passed away July 21, 2020, at the age of 84, after battling multiple health issues. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends.
Dawn, as she liked to be called, was born February 26, 1936, in Red Lodge, Montana to parents Gustaf and Margaret Sanderson. They moved to Toston, where she was raised and graduated from Broadwater High School. Dawn was blessed with 4 children through 2 marriages. She lived in several states outside of Montana, including Idaho, Washington, North Carolina, and finally Colorado, which she moved to in 1973 and stayed.
Dawn worked in the Insurance industry for over 40 years. She started her own entertainment insurance company, Sunrise Insurance, in 1992, which she operated until retiring in 2004.
Growing up on a ranch in Montana, Dawn loved horses, especially her horse Pat. She enjoyed art, drawing many pictures of horses and dogs. She often recalled the special days growing up with her five brothers and sister. She was passionate about the family genealogy, having created several albums of history, documents and pictures. One of her favorite places to get away to was the bend in the Missouri river where she would sit and watch the water.
Home was a place she found solace and peace. She enjoyed her home and neighbors in Littleton for 21 years before falling ill and having to move in 2019. The family remembers her special Thanksgiving meals and New Year’s Day festivities. Dawn was very proud of her roses lining her driveway, and tended to them and the rest of her garden with care. She always shared her home with dogs, whom she kept for companionship and unconditional love, and always had a funny story to tell about them.
Dawn is survived by her four children: Cara Haberer (Don), Tracy Farris (Michael), Brian Schmitt (Monica) and Todd Schmitt (Tracy) as well as 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers: Gordon Sanderson (Shirley), Gerald Sanderson (Susan) and sister-in-law, Myrna Sanderson as well as nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Norman and Ronald, and her sister Eileen.
Internment and Memorial Service will be held at 10:30am Friday, August 21st 2020, at Seven Stones Cemetery, 9635 North Rampart Range Road, Littleton, CO 80125. Relatives and friends are welcome.
