Evelyn Mirkin

Evelyn Mirkin, 90, of Denver Colorado passed away peacefully on Tuesday January 23, 2018. Born November 9, 1927 in Brooklyn, NY, Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents Harry and Dinah Malamud as well as her two siblings Morris Malamud and Charlotte Snyder. Evelyn and her loving husband Joseph were happily married for 54 years until his death in 2003. Evelyn adored her family. She is survived by her two children Linda Endicott of Naples, FL and Kenneth Mirkin of New York, NY, as well as her four grandchildren Matt Buckstein of Denver, Michelle Cobb of Denver, and Julia and Emily Mirkin of New York. Evelyn received her undergraduate degree from Hunter College in New York where she was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa honor society. She later received her Master of Science in Early Childhood Education from Brooklyn College. Evelyn spent all of her career devoted to education and reading; working at various pre-schools and libraries in both Brooklyn and Denver. Private cremation will be performed in accordance with Evelyn’s wishes. The family will be accepting visitors in the basement social room at Evelyn’s longtime residence of Mountain Shadows Condominiums- 2 Adams St., Denver on Saturday January 27 between 2 and 5pm or Sunday January 28 between 2 and 5pm In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the MaxFund of Denver (MaxFund.org) to honor her love of dogs or the Denver Public Library (dplfriends.org) to honor her love of learning.
