Evelyn Sheard-Stevens

Age 93, Died on May 17, 2021 in Centennial, Colorado.

Evelyn was born on March 5, 1928 in Vona, Colorado to Orval J. and Edna Mae (Maag) Seaman. She graduated from Joes High School in 1945. After high school she worked at a general store in Kirk, Colorado. She took a Teacher Certificate exam and taught elementary school until she was married.

Evelyn married Dwight LeRoy Sheard on April 23, 1947 at her parent’s home at a farm in Joes, Colorado. Evelyn and Dwight lived in Joes, Colorado; Eudora, Kansas; Lawrence, Kansa; Golden, Colorado; and Arvada, Colorado.

Evelyn worked in the medical insurance field in doctors’ offices and the Lutheran Medical Center. She excelled in medical insurance billing and medical records. She retired in 1994.

Evelyn enjoyed doing Tole painting, collecting milk-glass dishes, painting china, making lace, crocheting, needle work, and sewing. She also traveled to several countries around the world during her life time. She was a faithful member of the Church of Christ.

Evelyn is survived by a daughter Janet (Richard) Hopkins, a son Larry (Dorothy) Sheard and a brother Orval L. (Marymae) Seaman. She is proceeded in death by husbands Dwight Sheard and Delbert Stevens. She had seven grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.

Memorial service will be June 8, 2021 at Horan and McConaty funeral home in Centennial, Colorado, followed by burial at Fort Logan National Cemetery alongside Dwight.
