She was born Faustine Marvlyn Lewis on June 10, 1923 in Columbus, Georgia to William Arthur and Willie Beatrice Lewis; she was the sixth of 9 children. Faustine grew up in Columbus, Georgia and was a graduate of Spencer High School. After graduation she attended business college in Detroit, Michigan. She returned to Columbus 18 months later and worked as a stenographer.  On May 30, 1943, Faustine married Major J. Sherard, Jr in Phenix City, Alabama. From this union two children were born. Carol Janese and Marjorie Lynne, who were her pride and joy.

John 14:1-3: Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.
