Gwendolyn Posen

Gwendolyn Jean Posen , 86, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday October 3, 2021.  Born on August 12, 1935 in Trinidad Colorado.

Gwen was an amazing woman and most importantly the most amazing mom a son could ask for. Gwen  started working in advertising in Chicago in the 60’s where she met her husband, Alan.  They would soon have their only child Ken and eventually move to the East Coast where they spent 6 years.  In 1974 they relocated to Gwen’s home state of Colorado where Gwen and Alan built their own business. After Alan’s death in 1995 Gwen took care of her elderly mother Greta.  After her mom’s passing, she took a 2-week job helping a friend run his laundromat.   That 2-week job turned into a part time job of 12 years.  Gwen loved her “little job” as she called it.   She worked there until she was 79.

Gwen loved life to the fullest and was a trooper all the way to the end.   Gwen battled Alzheimer's for the last seven years and most recently had a hip and shoulder replacement. She was on the rebound when she contracted Covid. Luckily, she was vaccinated and was on the mend in rehab.  Gwen was such a strong woman; however, she was ready to go on her final journey.  On October 3rd she had her final meal at 6pm and was lovingly tucked into bed shortly before 7pm.  The caregivers checked in on her at 7pm and Gwen had passed quietly and peacefully in her sleep.

Gwen is survived by her son Ken, brother Dick, stepdaughters Carol and Elaine.  She is also survived by her 5 grandchildren: Gayle, Kay, Laura, Rachel and David along with her great grandchildren.  Gwen was preceded in death by her Husband Alan and Stepdaughter Anita.

Services will be held at 10:00am Thursday October 14th, 2021 at Horan McConaty , 11150 E Dartmouth Avenue, Aurora Co 80014. Immediately following the service will be a Celebration of Life for Gwen in the reception hall at Horan McConaty.

In lieu of flowers a donation to the Alzheimer's Association would be greatly appreciated.
