James Richard Dorsey, 83, passed away in Parker, Colorado on April 14, 2022.
Born September 16, 1938 in Denver, Jim lived in Colorado his entire life and worked for the Sheridan School District for 41 years where he touched so many lives as a teacher, coach, referee, and mentor. His passion for the outdoors and sports were contagious. And one of the most prestigious accomplishments of his life was being inducted into the C.H.S.A.A. Hall of Fame on January 23, 2013.
Jim is survived by his son Pat (Kim) Dorsey; his sister, Gayle (Larry) Dorsey-Spitz and brother-in-law, Rod Ragsdale; son-in-law, Paul Cherry; and seven grandchildren: Forrest (Lexi) Dorsey, Zach (Kristi) Dorsey, Hunter (Caitlyn) Dorsey, Michael Richardson, Nicole Richardson, Alex Cherry, and Stephanie Cherry; and one great-grandchild, Brooks Kyle Dorsey. Jim is also survived by several nieces and nephews including, Ryan Dorsey-Spitz, Brendan Dorsey-Spitz, Jenna Gould, Lauren Dorsey-Spitz, Michell Ragsdale, and Marlene Wilhem. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Marie and John Dorsey; sister, Carol Ragsdale; and daughter, Cheryl Ann Cherry.
A viewing and Rosary will be held at Horan & McConaty on Thursday, April 28, 2022 at 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., respectively. A funeral service will be held Friday, April 29, 2022 at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
