James Finegan

James Lovett Finegan, age 70, passed peacefully at Porter Hospice Residence in Centennial, Colorado on December 21, 2022, in the evening surrounded by his family. He grew up in Rochester, New York, and attended McQuaid Jesuit High School. He went to the Rochester Institute of Technology and earned a degree in photography. In college, he initially pursued his dream career as a photographer, while it stayed a lifelong passion, he switched to law and dedicated the rest of his life and career to his practice. He was a graduate of the University of Denver Law School. He fell in love with skiing in Colorado and subsequently stayed, establishing his home and law practice. Shortly thereafter he met his wife, Kelli, with whom he shared a loving life and relationship for 36 years.

As a teenager, Jim loved skiing, camping, and traveling with his childhood friends. He cherished and maintained a number of these friendships throughout his life. He loved photography in his early years and never went anywhere without a camera. He was also a lifelong rock and roll fan.

Jim was an avid and dedicated motorcyclist spending most of his adult life riding with friends and clubs on the weekends. He also enjoyed touring around the world on his motorcycle with his friends and family. His most recent motorcycle adventure was in Norway with his wife.

Jim battled esophageal cancer for a year and a half until he passed surrounded by loved ones. He is survived by his wife, Kelli, their children, Devin, Collin, and Kyra, as well as his sister, Shelley. He is also survived by nieces, cousins, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his sister Kerry.

The Memorial Service will take place at Horan & McConaty at 5303 E. County Line Road, Centennial, CO 80122 on Saturday, January 21, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. A Celebration of Life will be held immediately after the service at Horan & McConaty at the above address. There will be light snacks and drinks. Flowers can be sent to Horan & McConaty at 5303 E. County Line Road, Centennial, CO 80122.
