Juan Flores Quiroz

Juan Manuel Flores Quiroz, aged 38, died on Friday, October 8th, 2021 at Medical Center of Aurora following a long, brave battle with injury and illness.

Juan, called “Chanitos” by his family, was born in 1983 in Mexico City, Mexico, the first child of Juan and Fanny.  He attended secondary school at La Escuela Secundaria número 90 and studied fine arts for one year at the Autonomous National University of Mexico.  He came to the United States with his parents and four younger brothers in 2001 and, other than a few months in San Diego, CA, lived in Denver.  He married Lucas Antoine in 2020.

Juan had a gentle and artistic soul.  He loved pretty, shiny things and everything that looked interesting.  The greatest expression of his aesthetic sensibilities was seen in his sense of style, and he never appeared in public without several bracelets, of which he amassed quite the collection.  He loved dancing and painting, too.  Juan also found a great interest in plants and flowers, and had over 100 houseplants.  He loved fall colors and pastels.  For Juan, the big event of the year was the Kentucky Derby.

Above all else, Juan loved his family.  The first personal thing anyone learned about him was how much he loved his mother and brothers.  Supremely affectionate, Juan had an amazing capacity for love and an extraordinary generosity of spirit. He always had some comment or compliment to boost one’s confidence, and fun and laughter followed wherever he went. Juan brought great light to the world; that light hasn’t extinguished, only gone to live among the stars.

Juan was preceded in death by his father, Juan, and his brother Agustín.  He is survived by his mother, Fanny, his brothers Daniel, Jorge, Ivan, and Kevin, and his husband, Lucas.

Visitation will take place from 5:00-7:00 PM on Tuesday, October 19th, 2021, and a Celebration of Life service will take place on Wednesday, October 20th, 2021 at 11:00 AM, Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 1091 S. Colorado Blvd, Denver, CO, 80246, to be followed by a reception also at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel.

En la tarde del viernes, el 8 de octubre de 2021 falleció Juan Manuel Flores Quiroz a la edad de 38 años en Medical Center of Aurora después de una larga y valiente batalla contra una herida y enfermedad.

Juan, cuya familia le decía ‘Chanitos,’ nació en 1983 en la Ciudad de México. Era el hijo primogénito de Juan y Fanny.  Asistió a la secundaria en la Escuela Secundaria número 90 y después asistió un año a la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México donde estudió artes plásticas.  Vino en 2001 a los Estados Unidos con sus padres y sus cuatro hermanos menores.  A parte de unos meses en San Diego, CA, vivió en Denver.  Se casó con Lucas Antoine en el año 2020.

Juan tenía un alma cariñosa y de artista.  Le encantaba todo lo bello y brillante, todo lo que se ve interesante.  La mayor expresión de de su sensibilidad estética se demostró en su estilo de vestirse, y nunca aparecía en público sin varias pulseras, de las cuales tenía una colección vasta. Le encantaba también bailar y pintar. Encontró una gran afinidad por las plantas y las flores.  Amaba los colores del otoño y los colores pasteles. El gran evento del año siempre era para Juan el Kentucky Derby.

Por encima de todo, Juan tenía un gran amor para su familia.  La primera cosa personal que se aprendía de él era cuánto amaba a su madre y a sus cuatro hermanitos.  Un ser sumamente cariñoso, Juan tenía una capacidad asombrosa de amar y una generosidad de espíritu extraordinaria. Siempre tenía un comentario o cumplido que alzara la autoestima de cualquiera persona y la diversión y la risa lo acompañaban por dondequiera que fuese. Juan trajo mucha luz al mundo; su luz no se ha extinguido, sólo se ha ido a permanecer entre las estrellas.

Su padre Juan y su hermano Agustín fallecieron con anterioridad.  Le sobreviven su madre, Fanny, sus hermanos, Daniel, Jorge, Ivan, y Kevin y su esposo, Lucas.  Se llevará a cabo un velatorio el martes 19 de octubre de las 5:00 a las 7:00 de la tarde y servicios de celebración de vida el miércoles 20 de octubre a las 11:00 de la mañana. Se seguirá una recepción.  Los dos tendrán lugar en Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 1091 S. Colorado Blvd, Denver, CO, 80246.
