Judith “Judy” Wilma Nelson, 77, our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, passed away peacefully January 25, 2021, following a short, yet valiant battle with cancer. Judy was born June 25, 1943 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Earl and Wilma Bateman Jones.
Judy always loved helping her family in any way that she could. Before she graduated from Murray High School in 1961, she helped at her parents dry cleaning business. After graduation, she moved to Torrance California for work where she would end up meeting the love of her life Jerry at a Christmas party. About three years after Judy married her soulmate, they welcomed their first son, Scott. After Scott was born, Jerry's job transferred Judy and their family to Oregon where shortly after, Chad and Adam joined and completed their family. In 1983, Jerry's job once again transferred the Nelson family to Aurora Colorado where they have since resided.
Judy was a very talented seamstress, making many clothes from scratch. Before her career at David’s Bridal, she used to make pillows that were used in model homes. After deciding that she loved to work on her own, Judy left David's Bridal to pursue a home alteration business where she had many beautiful results.
Nothing was more important to Judy than her family. She loved family dinners, game nights and the occasional family church gatherings. Jerry and Judy cherished their family, and the family cherished them. Their infectious laugh, the many ways they demonstrated their love will never be forgotten. We are sad for their departure, but happy for their reunion.
Judy was preceded in death by her beloved husband Jerome “Jerry” Nelson on November 15, 2020.
She is survived by three sons, Scott (Laura), Chad, and Adam (Linda); her grandchildren, Tianna (Austin) Garcia, Mikayla Nelson, Marrissa Nelson, Liam Nelson and Lena Nelson; two loving great-grandchildren, Darren and Analeigha Garcia; and siblings, Marilyn (Jim) Simms, Beverly Sutterberg and Ronald (Carol) Jones. Preceded in death by her parents, her loving sister Ardith and her husband Chester Stephenson, and her brother, Clint Jones.
