Parker

Kathy Monahan Emerson died on 8/19/21 in Maui, Hawaii on a family vacation after a short illness.  She  was the beloved wife of Kevin, mother of Christopher (Cassandra) Frederick and Corey;  daughter of Terrance Monahan, sister of Sharon (Wayne) Roberson, Teri Ann Monahan, Colleen (Larry) Peters, Kelly Sala, and Patrick (Marla) Monahan.  Her favorite role in life was grandmother to Aaron, Delaney, and Rhys.  She loved them with all her heart and was looking forward to meeting her newest granddaughter due in October.  She was especially proud of her two sons, Chris a business professional in Denver and Corey, a Marine like her father.  A member of a large Irish family she will be missed by her nieces and nephews as well as Kevin’s close-knit family.

Kathy was witty, funny and would often have her siblings laughing uncontrollably at one of her jokes or many pranks.  She was kind, considerate and had a bit of an Irish temper.

Kathy, a native Coloradoan, grew up in Lakewood and was always leading her siblings or friends in a new game she invented or performing gymnastics where she excelled in Jefferson County competitions.  In 1989 Kathy left Denver and moved with her son Chris to marry Kevin in Las Vegas.  Kevin  brought her the stability and great lifestyle she craved.  They relocated back to Denver in the late 90’s and purchased their dream home in the Parker Stonegate division – a goal she had for years.  Kathy was a banker in Denver and Las Vegas.  Kathy’s former boss in Las Vegas said she was the “best banker” he ever managed.

Kathy’s favorite pastime was following the Colorado Rockies.  She spent countless hours watching or listening to baseball games.  She was an expert fan and knew every conceivable stat and would debate them with her son Chris and brother-in-law Wayne.  Like her cherished mother, Loretta, she loved Hawaii and would spend hours serenely ocean gazing when vacationing at Kapalua Bay.

Her family is heartbroken at her untimely passing and she will be with them until they all meet again.
