Leslie Beard

May 20, 1943 — November 10, 2022

Leslie Alan Beard, 79, passed away on November 10, 2022, while surrounded by his family.

Leslie was born May 20, 1943, in Denver, CO. He lived his whole life in Colorado. He raised his three children and grandson in Keenesburg with his wife Louise. Later in life, after Louise’s passing, he reconnected with a high school girlfriend, Pat. Whom he ended up marrying and moved to Berthoud.

His career included 4.5 years in the Marines, where he rose to Sergeant. He became a Colorado State Trooper following his service and then a career machinist for over 30 years. He finished his working years as an armored truck driver for Brinks until he retired at 70.

Les enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, watching the Denver Broncos play (win or lose), playing cribbage with his friends at the senior center in Brighton, CO, playing Scrabble with his family and online friends, and relaxing with his dog Izzy on his lap.

If we were to summarize his life, it would be that he took care of everyone he loved. He was the caretaker of his two wives in their final years as well as to his stepfather. He helped raise his oldest grandson. He supported and loved all his children and grandchildren. He was never shy about giving heartfelt advice when he felt it was needed.

Survivors include his children Shelly (David) Fradkin of Aurora, CO, Laurie (Chris) Vukovich of Littleton, CO, and Scott (Wendy) Beard of Aurora, CO. His brother Charles Prutch. Grandchildren Bryan Beard, Sarah, Peter, & Holly Fradkin, Jay and Brandon Beard, Christopher Vukovich, and great-grandson Dexter Vukovich.

Les was preceded in death by his mother Modena Prutch, father Boyd Slocum, sister Beverly Milligan, stepfather Anthony “Tony” Prutch, wife of 42 years and mother of his children Mary “Louise” Beard, and his wife later in life, Patricia Morse.

Les will be missed by all and will forever remain in our hearts.
