Lucinda Kennedy Woodard

December 2, 1953 — April 15, 2023

Denver, CO

Lucinda Kathryn Kennedy Woodard passed on April 15, 2023 with her husband, Scott, at her side, after a long and determined fight with cancer.

She was born on 2 December, 1953 to Noah and Barbara (Bliss) Kennedy in Corpus Christi. She graduated with Honors from the University of Texas School of Architecture, where she was the recipient of numerous awards and was President of the School of Architecture. While at the University, she met her Life Partner and future husband, Scott Woodard. Together for over 50 years, Luci and Scott believed that ‘’Life should be lived as an adventure’’ and they built a life together based on love, commitment, and living up to this maxim. They were inseparable, and were always there for each other, regardless of the situation.

Luci was passionate about her work, and was never happier than when she was leading a team of professionals in the design and construction of projects. Her teams worked hard but also played hard, and they enjoyed a comradery that only comes with mutual respect and the sharing of interesting challenges. Luci specialized in aviation projects, and this work allowed her to work in key leadership roles on projects around the world. She especially enjoyed working with integrated multi-national teams and loved the excitement of working on projects that would make a difference in the lives of the local populations. She worked on projects on six continents, and she and Scott were never hesitant to pack their bags and move to the next project. Her curiosity was insatiable, and she believed in all her heart in the wonder of life and the universe.

While living overseas was a big part of their lives, Luci worked hard to stay close to her family and friends in the States, and treasured her relationships with both. She was especially close to her brothers, and to the nieces and nephews from both sides of the family. She orchestrated the family reunions, the special birthday parties, and the holiday get-togethers whenever possible. She felt fortunate that she was able to get to know, love and adore the next generation of greatnieces/nephews, and was known as ‘’Luli’’ to them all. Her close friends are scattered around the world, and many are considered family to her.

She is survived by her husband, Scott, and her two brothers (whom she called her “Rocks”) Noah Kennedy (Ann) of Larkspur, CA and Bill Kennedy (Jamee) of Austin, TX. She was blessed beyond measure with the love of her nieces and nephews, Matt Kennedy (Samantha) of Sebastopol, CA , Joe Kennedy (Dana) of Oakland, CA, Hannah Kennedy of Austin TX, Scott Kennedy of San Diego, CA, Paige Woodard Schultz (Barry) of Hamptonville, NC, Payton Woodard of Charlotte, NC, Mark Hamilton (Jen) of Houston, Tx, Keith Hamilton (Christie) of Midland, TX, and Todd Hamilton (Cherish) of Katy, Tx, and their parents Rod and Patty Woodard of Charlotte, NC and Kathy and Rick Hamilton of Portland, TX. She said that the thing that made her the happiest in her retirement was spending time with her 11 great nieces and nephews. She gloried in seeing the world through their eyes, and became childlike when she was around them.

A memorial service will be held at St. Philips Episcopal Church, Uvalde, Texas followed by a celebration of Luci’s life at the family ranch, Verde Blanco, Concan, Texas on May 20, 2023.
