Maria Elva Padilla, age 80, passed away Saturday, February 6, 2021 surrounded by family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Maria was born in 1940 in Harlingen, Texas. She was one of 11 siblings. It was in Harlingen that she met the love of her life, her husband, Jose Padilla. She was later married in Cutler, California at St. Mary’s catholic church. Jose and Maria then moved to Denver, Colorado where they began their life together.
Maria is survived by her children, Norman Padilla and Regina Padilla, her four grandsons, Gabriel, Gonzalo, Sebastian, Joaquin Gomez, her sisters, Anna (Santiago) Hernandez, Lupe Garza, Her brothers, Enrique (Gloria) Garza, Fermin (Candy) Garza, Leonel (Margie) Garza, Eloy (Virgie) Garza, sister in law Nora Garza, brother in law Raymond Montano, as well as numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
Maria is preceded in death by her Mother Leonor Garza, her father Juan Garza, sister, Tita Montano, brothers, Raul Garza, Juan Garza and Rene Garza as well as her beloved Husband Jose Padilla.
Rosary will be held Wednesday, February 17, 2021, 6pm, Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 3101 S. Wadsworth Blvd., Lakewood. Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, February 18, 2021, 10am, St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Due to COVID-19 Restrictions and social distancing, seating will be limited and masks are required. Committal will be Thursday, February 18, 2021, 11:30am, Fort Logan National Cemetery.
Maria was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She is especially known for her loving disposition, her great generosity and her amazing food. Her wonderful parties were an outward display of her love of life and her desire to see others celebrate with joy and happiness. Knowing Maria was a true gift from God and she will be so missed by many.
