Marilyn Walsh

d. March 17, 2022

Marilyn Walsh, 91, of Castle Pines, Colorado passed away peacefully in her home Thursday, March 17, 2022 and is now rejoicing with Jesus and her family.

Marilyn was born and raised in St. Louis, MO.  Her mother passed away when she was two and her sister Virginia was nine.  A few years later, her father Russell Pruess remarried Alleen (Hirlinger) Souders, who had two children of her own, LaVonne “Vonnie” (Souders) Graham and Earl “Roger” Souders.  They became a large, loving family.  They lived together on Connecticut Street in St. Louis near Tower Grove Park, where she had many cherished family memories.  She also became a life-long Cardinals fan.

Marilyn graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1948.  After graduating, she worked in administrative roles at a television studio, engineering firm and bank.  In 1958, she married Brian Walsh, who was serving in the United States Marine Corps.  They moved to Camp Pendleton, North Carolina, where their first daughter, Vickie Walsh, was born in 1959.  They soon relocated to Anaheim, California, where daughter, Pamela (Walsh) Black, was born in 1965.  Marilyn loved being a mom and homemaker.  She loved going to high school events and extracurricular activities to cheer on her girls.   In 1986, her daughter Vickie gave birth to grandson, JR Maxwell.  Marilyn and Pam raised JR, their pride and joy, in Anaheim.  Oh how she loved JR!  She was so proud of the man he’s become.

Marilyn loved the ocean and beaches of California.  It was her happy place.   However, she was equally excited to relocate with her family to Colorado in 2006, as she used to vacation there frequently in her early life.  She lived a mile away from Pam and her husband, David and they were blessed to spend a lot of time with her.  She had a special circle of friends in her wonderful community.  She enjoyed game nights, bible studies, silver sneakers and birthday lunches with her dear friends.

Marilyn was the most kind, thoughtful, and loving person, who always put others first.  She loved her family, friends, country and Jesus!  She was loved by everyone who knew her and will be dearly missed by all.    She is survived by her 2 children: Vickie Walsh and Pam Black (David); grandson, JR Maxwell (Autumn); nieces, Donna Mueller (Larry), Carol Bilosi (Kevin) and nephews, Russell Dahmer (Margie), Denny Graham (Barbara), Doug Souders (Beverly); cousins, Janet Clark (George) and Mary Weiss (John) and several great nieces and nephews and  many, many beloved friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, beloved sisters Ginny and Vonnie and brother Roger.

A celebration of life will be held on April 1, 2022 in St. Louis, MO.  Marilyn will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Park with her parents, sister and brother in law. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Gary Sinise Foundation or Freedom Service Dogs of America.
