Marlene Angeletti Bates, 84, passed away August 12, 2020 at her home in Aurora, Colorado.
She was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Ed and Anne Angeletti.
Marlene started her career as a flight attendant at Eastern Airlines and was based in New York City. She was then a homemaker and mother for many years in Pittsburgh, and moved to Aurora in 1990. She rejoined the workforce later in life, where she finished her career at United Airlines working in Pilot Employment.
Marlene was a devoted spouse, mother and grandmother. She is survived by Dale, her husband of 62 years, children Darryl Bates (Colleen) of Pasadena, CA and Cynthia Petrarca (John) of Centennial, CO and her grandchildren Erin Bates (Rikki Johnson), Luke Petrarca, Emily Bates and Alexis Petrarca, brother Edward Angeletti of Baltimore, MD, uncle George Angeletti of Lynnfield, MA and cousin Tracy Angeletti of Westford, MA, along with numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents and her sister Edwina Hartman.
Marlene's favorite hobby was cheering on her grandchildren in their various endeavors as she took her role as grandmother very seriously. She was a longtime member of Our Lady of Loreto Catholic Parish, where she served as a Eucharistic minister and volunteered at the Life Closet. She had an infectious smile and a kind word for everyone she met.
Due to COVID-19, a private memorial Mass was held in her honor at Our Lady of Loreto in Foxfield, Colorado. In lieu of flowers, donations in honor of Marlene can be made at https://fundraising.stjude.org/site/TR/GiftFunds/GiftFunds?px=6706660&pg=personal&fr_id=39300 to the Marlene Bates Memorial.
