It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marlene Georgine Mulnix. She passed away peacefully on October 18, 2022 in the presence of her family. Marlene was 87 years old.
Marlene was a woman of exquisite taste. Always fashionably dressed, without a hair out of place, she’d greet you with a warm smile and invite you into her elegantly decorated home. Her joyful presence was infectious and she made a positive impact on those she came in contact with. Her’s was a full and impassioned life.
Marlene was born in Ellis, Kansas on April 2, 1935 and came to Colorado with her family in 1937. She attended Annunciation Catholic School in Denver. In 1953, she married Donald B. Mulnix of Aurora, Colorado. Together they raised three children, sons Donald Jr., and Steven and daughter, Christy. Marlene was the central figure in her children’s lives. She imparted life skills, godly values and discipline. She was later blessed with grandchildren, who became the delight of her life. She was also a respected and cherished colleague at Credit Bureau Services, retiring as a Regional Sales Manager after 30 years of dedicated service.
Over the course of her life, Marlene enjoyed many hobbies including dancing, traveling, bowling, gambling, crocheting, water skiing, cycling, and going to the theatre. Win or lose, she was a loyal sports fan, supporting her Rockies, Broncos, and Nuggets season after season. She was an active and devoted member of the Denver Police Widows’ Association for many years. With all her varied interests, nothing gave her more joy than spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. She was a beautiful, loving, and caring woman whose joyful presence will be missed by all who knew her.
Marlene is preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Donald B. Mulnix Sr., her parents, George and Helen Spies Begler, her sister Mary Katherine Hild and her brothers Elmer, Alvin and Leroy.
