Mary Ann was born and raised near Chaffee Park in Denver. She was preceded in death by her parents Bernard Aaron Hogan and Mary Delphine McCraner Hogan; her sister Judy Hogan Sexton (Mark) of Denver; and her brother Jack Dennis Hogan of Astoria, Oregon.
Mary Ann is survived by her husband of 57 years, Joseph Michael (Mickey or Mike) Connors; sister Kay Hogan Shunk (Kenny); son Kevin Michael Connors (Jennifer); daughter Jennifer Kay Connors (Bradley Barton Wilson) of Breckenridge; grandchildren Hogan Joseph Connors (age 14) and Jamison David Connors (age 10).
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, neighbor, volunteer, sister-in-law, and friend. Mary Ann attended St. Patrick Grade School, Cathedral High School, Metropolitan State College, and Emily Griffith Opportunity School where she studied business/accounting, gourmet cooking, and master flower arranging. In her junior year in high school, she joined the front office of Keebler Biscuit Company where she made many life-long friends.
Through her life, she served many organizations as an active volunteer and leader. In September of 1991, she became a Charter Member of The Mile High Professional Association for The Mile High Assistance League of Denver. She was Auxiliary Chair in 1997-98. Also, she was active in facilitating “Operation School Bell” during her tenure, providing teddy bears and food for families in need.
She enjoyed “Table Scapes,” a Mile High Assistance League fund raiser, to provide books for underprivileged children in Denver. With Louise Crow and Sarah Porter, Mary Ann won many awards for the creative tables and flower arrangements they mastered. They won many Blue and Red Ribbons!
Mary Ann also was a volunteer for the St. Vincent de Paul Society. In the 1970s and 1980s, she orchestrated her family to adopt Vietnamese families coming to Denver. She collected blankets, linens, towels, food (Mary Ann’s Gourmet!), toiletries, and books. She and her husband Mike helped their new neighbors furnish their new homes
For over 30 years, Mary Ann was a member of the Kennedy Ladies Golf League Club. She enjoyed the comradery of playing golf, having lunch, and visiting with her dear friends.
Mary Ann enjoyed traveling. With her husband, she went to Ireland four times, traveling back to the United States once on The Queen Mary. They also enjoyed trips to Alaska, Boston, Breckenridge, Phoenix, Tucson, Atlanta, San Francisco, Wisconsin, Oregon and California where they honey mooned.
When we remember the salt water and misty smells of the Cliffs of Moher in Ireland or a delicate bouquet of flowers, we will think of you, Mary Ann. Now you are an Angel with the Lord.
Mary Ann will be interred at Fort Logan National Cemetery. A Roman Catholic Mass will be held at the Church of the Risen Christ, Denver when Covid- 19 allows. Her family will announce the time and date for her Celebration of Life!
