Aurora, CO

Mary Hardenbergh Kelly, 66, of Georgetown, Texas, passed away on February 17, 2022, after a difficult battle with cancer. She was surrounded by loved ones.

Mary was born on August 21, 1955. She attended Birmingham-Seaholm High School and graduated at the age of sixteen.  She earned her Bachelor’s in Finance from Michigan State University, and MBA from University of Detroit Mercy. Mary then moved to New York City to work in corporate banking for several large companies including Citigroup, Chase, Bank of America, and BNY Mellon.   In 1988, Mary met her husband and they had two boys, Thomas and William.

Mary dedicated her life to being a wonderful mother. Her faith guided every decision and helped her share a warmth, gentle spirit and sincerity with all she met. She put her successful career on hold, homeschool the boys for two years while also earning her DBA in Finance from Nova Southeastern University. As her boys grew up, she added to her career as a finance professor at Grand Valley State University (Michigan) and Texas A&M, Central Texas, where she earned tenure.

Mary was predeceased by her mother Georgia, father Gerald, and sister Karen. She is survived by her sons, Thomas (Kristianne) and William (Jennifer); her granddaughter, Madeleine; her siblings, Jerry (Margaret), Tom, John (Michele), Jim (Dawn), Susan, and Linda; her brother-in-law, Gary; and eighteen nieces, nephews, and their respective families.

The family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to the College of Business Scholarship at Texas A&M, Central Texas. Please contact Ms. Lana Carey at 254-702-1290.

There will be a Celebration of Life later this spring/summer in Michigan on a date yet to be determined.
