Metta Gray Inskeep, 82, of Parker Colorado, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away at home on June 22, 2021, following a courageous battle with ovarian cancer.
Metta was born February 24, 1939, in Newark, New Jersey to Kenneth and Katharine Lent Carberry. She graduated from Douglass College in 1961 with a degree in Economics. Metta met the love of her life, Peter Inskeep, at the Prudential in Newark, New Jersey. They were married on September 8, 1962, and had four children, Katie, Peter, Chris and David.
Metta and Pete shared a lifelong love of the outdoors. Together they fly-fished, canoed, camped and hiked all over the United States. She enjoyed tennis, golf, gardening, reading and watching sports of any kind with her six grandchildren. She also was an amateur radio operator, KE4YSK. She loved quilting and made each of her grandchildren and great nieces and nephews quilts over the years. She loved to bake, especially with and for her grandchildren. Her blueberry pie was requested at every family gathering.
Metta was also an avid college basketball fan, one of the few who rooted for both the Louisville and Kentucky teams. She loved her dogs and walked them every day. In recent years she walked 2 miles every morning and afternoon, first with her beloved dogs Annie and Hope and more recently with her rescue dogs Buddy and Heidi. Metta loved all animals and delighted in watching deer, hawks and fox that frequented the gulch near her home.
Metta is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Peter V. Inskeep; three children, Katharine Herbert, Peter Inskeep and Chris (Cathy) Inskeep; six grandchildren, Alexander Herbert, James Herbert, Matthew Herbert, Lily Inskeep, Megan Inskeep, and Derek Inskeep; siblings, Katherine (Gunter) Siemsen, Kenneth Carberry, and Ellen (Robert) Blundy; and she will also be lovingly remembered by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Metta was preceded in death 11 years ago by her son, David Inskeep.
A Memorial service will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, July 16, at Horan & McConaty, 5303 E. County Line Road, Centennial, CO 80122.
Family and friends are invited to share memories of Metta and condolences with her family on the adjoining Tribute wall. Thank you!
