In Loving Memory of
Mona Lea Borden (Johnson).
Beautiful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt.
Mona was born to Alvin and Leah Johnson on November 28, 1951 in Garden City, Kansas and was called home to her Heavenly Father on October 26, 2021 in Englewood, Colorado.
Mona grew up in the Copeland, Kansas area on a farm with her brother and two sisters. At nine, Mona's father passed away. She completed her high school education at Montezuma High School. She was a homemaker and loved her two children dearly.
Mona had many marvelous God given talents that included an incredible artistic ability to paint, to design, and to arrange flowers. Mona''s love for design drew her to work for JC Penny's creating the ever-changing displays for the different seasons and holidays. This talent gave her the opportunity to transfer to the JC Penny's in Denver which brought her closer to the mountains which is one place that she loved to be. It was here in Colorado that she met the love of her life, Dave Borden. They found common interests in the mountains and in dancing. Mona and Dave dated for about 2 months before he proposed marriage in August of 1999 for which she delightfully accepted. They were married in Genesee,Colorado on May 5, 2001. Soon after they married, Mona quit her job at JC Penny's and went back to school to become an esthetician. When she completed her training Mona worked for a few companies before transitioning into an entrepreneur and built a business of her own. She loved working with people and helping them to look their absolute best. She developed a loyal customer base and worked very hard for all the customers whom she loved to serve, and who many became close friends of hers.
Mona had a special relationship with the Lord Jesus and kept him very close to her heart. The first time Mona and Dave attended Passionate Life Church, they were greeted by loving arms of the body of Christ and knew they had found their forever church home. Church fellowship was very meaningful to Mona and Dave, and it was there they were able to develop many relationships which were very dear to Mona.
The family wishes to thank you for your many thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time.
Mona was survived by her husband David Borden, son Roderick Mayeske (Luanna), daughter Amy Schwind, step-son Ronnie Borden (Kelly), step-daughter Tammie Trujillo (Kevin), step-daughter Stacie Borden (Ken), brother Lynn Johnson (Martha), sister Glenda Nichols, 14 grandchildren, and 1 great granddaughter.
