Robert "Bob/Hammy" Hamilton passed away on April 8, 2022 in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. Robert was born in Richmond, Maine on August 1, 1936.
Robert is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Helen "Brownie" Hamilton, daughter Cindy Hamilton, granddaughters, Jenn Garduno (Matt), Haleh Torbaghan (Sam) and great grandson, Joshua Doolittle.
After graduating from high school where he played basketball, Robert served 20 years in the Air Force before retiring as Master Sargent and settling in Colorado with Helen whom he met while in the Air Force. They married in 1957 and had one daughter. After settling in Colorado, Robert worked 28 years with the railroad before retiring a second time while helping Helen raise their granddaughters. He spent a few years after working as a sweeper for a local construction company and then spent his time volunteering at the food bank and helping at his church. In 2018 he moved to Rio Rancho, NM to be close to his great grandson.
Robert enjoyed reading, jazz music, playing card games, watching sports and eating treats.
Robert was a hardworking, gentle soul who welcomed anyone and everyone to his table without judgment. He lived a life of service.
Celebration of his life will be held Friday May 27, 2022 at 9:00am, Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 3101 S. Wadsworth Blvd., Lakewood, Colorado. Committal will follow at 12pm Staging Area A, Fort Logan National Cemetery.
