Roger Starrett

Roger Starrett, 78 of Aurora, CO, passed away on January, 24th, 2019 of Alzheimer's disease. He was born in Downers Grove, IL on October 1st, 1940. Roger was raised with his two brothers, Jim and Gary in Colorado and Kansas by his parents Lyla and James Starrett. He served in the Army Armed Forces from 1958-1962 and upon his return met the love of his life, Carolyn Marie Richardson on a blind date. Roger and Carolyn adopted two children, Andrew Alan Starrett and Amy Marie Starrett. Roger and Carolyn were married 55 years, living in Colorado, Ohio, Florida, Texas, Colorado, Florida and back to Colorado wherever his piping designer profession and retirement took them. He worked for numerous engineering firms including Stearns Rogers and Raytheon.

Roger has been described by friends and family as kind, humorous, contagious personality and rarely seen without his infectious smile or a Budweiser in hand. He was a family man who showed his love by being a provider, teacher, coach and support. He attended all of his daughter's dance recitals and competitions. Being an active Dad by coaching his son's soccer team, attending BMX biking competitions or being a Scout leader was a priority. He had a love for rescuing dogs and rarely had less than two his entire married life. He was passionate about the Colorado mountains which he thoroughly enjoyed by Jeeping with the Mile Hi Jeep Club or just taking a Sunday ride to view the majestic scenery. He had an eye for seeing through the lens and took up photography as a hobby and those lucky enough may have some of his work in their home.

Roger is survived by his wife, Carolyn, their two kids, Andy Starrett and his wife, Tiffany Starrett, Amy Starrett and her fiance, Dan Reid, his three grandkids, Alex Anderson, Kylie Paul Starrett and Devin Reid, his two dogs, Betsy and Lily and extended family.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, February 22nd at 11:00 am, at Horan and McConaty, 11150 East Dartmouth Avenue (At, S Parker Rd) Aurora, CO 80014. All family and friends are welcome.
