Ronald Hunter

March 1, 1949 — February 19, 2022

Aurora

On Saturday, February 19th 2022, Ronald Lee Hunter was called home at the age of 72. The world has lost a great husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.

Ron was born on March 1st, 1949 in Aberdeen, Maryland. Ron moved to Colorado when he was 8 years old, with his brother Robert and met his lifelong friend, Larry. These three shared a strong bond filled with deep dialogues and lots of laughter.

After graduating from Manual High School, he attended Lake Forest College but completed his Bachelor Degree in Business at Regis University. He went on to receive his Masters Degree from the University of Phoenix. Ron had a long career in the telecommunications business where he started as an intern and made several breakthroughs in the industry; including being an important member of the Colorado Association of Black Professional Engineers and Scientists (CABPES.) He continued his career path in the printing and optical industry.

In 1971, Ron connected with Dorothy and they were inseparable from that point on. Ron and Dorothy were married for over 50 years with two daughters, Erika and Jessica.

His family will remember him for his seemingly gruff but absolutely kind personality, as well as having an irreplaceable sense of humor. He was always the first to try a new gadget and loved a good glass of wine or crafted margarita.

Ron was also an avid golfer, his free time was often spent on the course with his buddies and wife. No matter if he was in the mountains or by the beach, the highlight of his travels was hitting the links.

Ron is predeceased by his parents, Oliver and Imogene. Ron is survived by his wife of 50 years, Dorothy, his two daughters and their families; Erika (Kelly), Jessica (Patrick), his grandson Seamus, his brother, Robert (Daphne) and many other family members.

A Memorial Service honoring Ron's life will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at 2:00pm at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 11150 East Dartmouth Avenue, Aurora, Colorado.

Please share your memories of Ron and condolences with his family by signing the tribute wall.
