Ronald Bollig

June 18, 1942 — August 3, 2020

Denver

Ronald Leroy Bollig left this earth peacefully on August 3, 2020. Ron was born in Greeley, Colorado on June 18. 1942 to Seraphine "Shorty" and Josephine "Jo" Bollig.

He was their only child.  Ron graduated from Denver West High School. Studied at UNC, USM, and CSU. He met Carol Sue ( Rogers) and they were married on June 4, 1966.  Ron spent most of his teaching career as a Band Director at Creighton Middle School.  He would later move into guidance counseling at Golden High School.  Since he and Carol were both educators, most summers were spent on family vacations.  Road trips mostly while Rich and Mike were young and later they committed to seeing 100 countries and setting foot on all 7 continents, which they completed in January of 2007, shortly before Carol was diagnosed with brain cancer. Carol passed from cancer June 19,2007. They had been married for 40 years. Their love for traveling and experiencing cultures all over the globe left them both with amazing stories and memories to share with so many.

Both avid volunteers, they spent their time at The Denver Zoo, The Denver Aquarium and The National Western Stockshow.  Ron had spent a substantial amount of time coordinating and guiding many, many groups thru trips around their volunteer experiences.

Those who knew Ron knew his greatest joy came from making others happy.  He wanted to make sure that every experience was the experience of a lifetime.  He would make friends in every industry and avenue to make that happen.  He loved making people smile and was well known for his "Ron jokes" He was an epic story teller and had so many amazing adventures to share with others.

He was a member of the Green Mountain Optimist Club for many, many years.  He took his volunteer commitments very seriously and always gave 100% to whatever he committed to. Ron was known to be a tiny bit stubborn, but given his multiple medical struggles it ended up serving him well as he surprised his family often and would work hard to gain recovery after a medical setback.

He was a man of many talents.  He did sprinkler work for years, and shared that skill and wisdom with his sons.  He loved fishing.  He was a very gifted painter. He had designed and painted the winning label for his retirement communities microbrew.  He sold his paintings in galleries in Grand lake.  He played many instruments.

He had a strong faith, until not long ago he would attend Light of the World Catholic church and participated in their Adoration.

He loved sports, of all kinds, especially his Denver Broncos.  He was a season ticket holder for 30 years.  He attended the Colorado Rockies Spring training in AZ for many seasons.  He enjoyed when the Avalanche came to town and quickly became a Colorado Mammoth fan as well.

Ron's last travels included seeing Alekzander graduate from college in Florida, seeing the last Donnie and Marie show in Vegas and visiting Rich and his family in Georgia. Plans were in place to try to move him to Georgia to be closer to Rich and his family, but when COVID hit it became impossible to safely move him.

He lived big, enjoyed life and was a blessing to all who knew him.  He will be tremendously missed.  But never forgotten.

He is survived by his sons Richard Lee (Sandra) and Michael Justin-Louis ( Kelly) and Grandchildren Alekzander, Kendall (Casey), Garbriel (Sharlene), Scarlett, Kennedy and Makenna and his companion of many years Marge Kirk and her family.

Ron will be cremated and place in internment with Carol at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Wheat Ridge, Colorado.

A Celebration of Ron's Life will be held on August 7, 2021 at 10:30am at Light of the World Catholic Church. Followed by a Reception at Ridge Recreation Center, 6613 S Ward St, Littleton, CO 80127. Please RSVP to bollig99@yahoo.com.
