Ronald Vincent Wright, 83, of Lakewood, Colorado passed away on May 31st, 2021, surrounded by loved ones at St. Anthony Hospital. Ron loved his family and as a true patriot, he loved his country. He also loved God, so while his passing is difficult, there is peace in knowing he is now with the Father.
He was born to Bruce Wright and Maxine Roach on November 14th, 1937, in Denver, Colorado. Ron Graduated from North High School in 1956 where he was a drummer in the marching band and a member of the ROTC Drill Team. After High School he worked at Martin Company as a photographer and briefly joined the Marines before joining the Colorado Army National Guard. In 1960, he married his beloved wife Janice Colpitts and they went on to have four children.
Ron joined the Denver Police Department in March of 1961, but was called to active military duty and stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas. He was discharged from active duty in 1962. He returned to the Denver Police Department immediately where he faithfully served the community of Denver as a Patrolman and Detective until he retired in 1990. After retirement, Ron worked several other jobs including the Manager of Security position at St. Anthony Central Hospital as well as Head of Security for Loomis Fargo.
Ron was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He is survived by Jan, his wife of 61 years and their four children; son Jeff, son Greg (Dawn), son Tim (Kristie) and daughter Amy; four Grandchildren, Michael Wright, Mikayla and Kyler Modglin and Abby Wright; his brothers and sisters; Karen Bahl, Judy Kroh, Patricia Kelley, Linda Durbin and Steve Kroh (Maura).
Ron is preceded in death by his parents, Bruce Wright and Maxine Kroh, as well as his stepfather Kenneth Kroh.
Rosary will begin at 10:30 followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00 on Thursday, June 10th at Christ on the Mountain Catholic Parish, 13922 W Utah Ave, Lakewood, CO 80228. The Graveside ceremony will be held on Wednesday, June 16th at 10:30 at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 3698 South Sheridan Blvd., Denver, CO 80235.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the Wounded Warrior Project and/or Shriners Hospital for Children.
