Rose Yakel

Rose Catherine Yakel (nee Lechmann) age 90, died at Balfour Assisted Living in Louisville, CO, on Sunday August 15, 2021.  She was a graduate of Ovid High School in 1949.  Mrs. Yakel went on to earn an Associate Degree at Central Business College in Denver.  Some of her first jobs out of college took her to San Francisco, CA.  She returned to Colorado where she met and married her husband, Albert Alexander Yakel.

Mrs. Yakel had volunteered at Saint Anthony North Hospital when it was located on 84th Avenue.  She had also done volunteer work at the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge.  She is survived by her son Joseph, and her daughter Felicia Andrews of Mount Laurel, NJ.  She is also survived by a sister, Christine Miller of Kansas, plus many nieces, nephews, godchildren, and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her parents, several brothers and sisters, and her husband Albert.

Visitation and a Rosary will be at Horan & McConaty, 7577 West 80th Avenue, Arvada, CO, on August 24, 2021, beginning at 5 p.m.  A Funeral Mass will take place at Spirit of Christ Catholic Community chapel in Arvada, CO, on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at 11:30 a.m.  No luncheon will follow the Mass due to COVID restrictions.  Burial will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery on September 13, 2021, at 1 p.m.  Flowers can be sent to Horan & McConaty, 7577 West 80th Avenue, Arvada, CO.
