Rosemary Tynan

July 26, 1928 — August 12, 2020

Rosemary Ann Tynan was born on July 26, 1928 to Alonzo “Lon” Healy and Margaret Molony Healy in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  Rosemary was the oldest of three sisters.

Rosemary was Baptized, received the sacrament of Reconciliation, First Eucharist, Confirmation and Marriage at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Rosemary married Edward Thomas Tynan on January 10, 1953. Rosemary and Ed raised four sons, Timothy Patrick, Sean Healy, Edward O’Reilly, and Matthew James.

Rosemary was a proud Daughter, Sister, Mother, Grandmother, Aunt and Godmother.  Many relied on and sought “Aunt Rosie” our for intercessory prayers.

A woman of deep faith, a daily communicant for much of her life, Rosemary loved being Catholic.  Rosemary had a deep devotion to the Blessed Mother and the rosary was her constant companion.  The message, devotion and novena of Divine Mercy was a great blessing and consolation for Rosie.  In her final years Rosie was introduced to and prayed The Surrender Novena.  Rosemary did her best to spread The Surrender Novena to her family, friends and fellow residents at Brookdale.  As part of her daily devotion Rosemary prayed this prayer for priests:

O Jesus, I pray for your faithful and fervent priests;

for your unfaithful and tepid priests;

for your priests laboring at home or abroad in distant mission fields;

for your tempted priests;

for your lonely and desolate priests;

for your young priests;

for your dying priests;

for the souls of your priests in Purgatory.

But above all, I recommend to you the priests dearest to me:

the priest who baptized me;

the priests who’ve absolved me from my sins;

the priests at whose Masses I’ve assisted and who’ve given me Your Body and Blood in Holy Communion;

the priests who’ve taught and instructed me;

all the priests to whom I am indebted in any other way,

O Jesus, keep them all close to your heart,

and bless them abundantly in time and in eternity. Amen.

Involvement with Catholic initiatives spanned Rosemary’s life.  From early on Rosemary and her family were active in the life of Corpus Christi Parish.  In High School, Rosemary belonged to the Sodality of Mary.  Rosemary and Ed were founding members of Christ the King Parish in Denver.  Rosemary volunteered at St. Joseph Hospital, served as a member of the The Jean Jugan Society in support of Mullen Home for the aged, helped to start the rosary group and Divine Mercy group at Christ the King Parish.  Rosemary served on a steering committee for St Pope John Paul II’s 1993 visit to Colorado for World Youth Day.  In 2003 Archbishop Charles Chaput honored Rosemary with the Cardinal Stafford Justitia et Caritas award for her work with Catholic Charities.

An early believer in then Archbishop Stafford’s desire to purchase the former St. Thomas Seminary, Rosemary was involved in the establishment and opening of St. John Vianney Theological Seminary.

Rosemary is preceded in death by her parents, Lon and Margaret Healy, her husband Edward Thomas Tynan, oldest son Timothy Patrick Tynan, sister, Margaret Ebel and grandson Timothy Healy Tynan.

She is survived by her loving sons, Sean (Anne) and grandsons, Evan, Reid (Abby) and Adam; Eddie (Julie) and grandchildren, Nicole, Katy Roth (Levi), Kelly Purdum, (Joshua), Demar Moran (Matthew), Luke and Matthew, daughter-in-law Dana; Matt (Peggy) and grandchildren, Molly, Joe, Maggie, Danny and Will.  As well as 7 great-grandchildren.
