Sandra Schwab

November 16, 1947 — August 31, 2022

Our Heavenly Father welcomed home Sandra Jo Schwab, 74, on August 31, 2022. Favorably known as Sandy, she passed away from natural causes. She was born in Denver, Colorado on November 16, 1947. She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Mildred Baumgard, brother Howard Baumgard, and brother Raymond Baumgard. She is survived by her two children Dan Schwab and Nicole Severino, sister Laurine S Schuette, sister-in-law Virginia Cady, niece Dina Hansen, son-in-law Michael Severino, granddaughter Chiara Severino, daughter-in-law Kim Good, as well as several close friends from the Westminster Police Department.

Sandra Schwab was a graduate of North High School. She remained in Colorado and married at the age of 22 to John Schwab. Sandy adored quality time with her family and was known to be a people person. She was a beloved mother and treasured grandmother. Since moving out with her daughter’s family to Arizona, she was ever rarely willing to miss a moment with them. She enjoyed eating out with her family, exploring the community, going to movies, attending BBQ’s, “field trips”, puzzles, supporting her grandchild at sporting events and made any excuse to get ice cream. Sandy will forever be their angel in heaven.

Sandra Schwab also took great pride in her work as executive assistant to the Chief of Police at the Westminster Police Department. Sandy was initially hired in February 1980. She provided almost four decades of service to the department and was known as the “go-to girl”. She received several promotions and accolades during her time at the police department. Her rewards included Teams in Action, City Manager’s Office Choice Award, Excellence in Action, and many others. She also served on several committees and task forces for the department throughout her tenure. Her devotion and endless hours at the department were representative of her passion for her job and her dedication to her team at the city. Continuing her commitment to the city, she also volunteered at the Westminster Federal Credit Union for 30 years and was Vice Chairman for the board. Throughout her years at the Westminster Police Department, she formed life long friendships and bonds that brought significant value and joy to her life.

Her legacy will live on in the hearts of her family, friends and everyone she interacted with. Share her remembrance, and celebration of life on Saturday, October 8, 2022. Services will be at the Horan and McConaty Chapel starting at 11am with a reception to follow. Help her kindness and compassion continue by making a donation in her honor to the Colorado Police Canine Association
