Stephen Harley Shute, aged 81, died on October 22, 2020.
He was born on August 30, 1939 in Pueblo, CO. He lived his whole life in Colorado: in Pueblo, Dillon, Colorado Springs and Aurora. He started working as a telephone technician at Mountain Bell and worked his way up and retired as an engineer from US West. Upon retirement, he returned to college and earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. He was a converted Catholic and faithfully attended mass.
Steve was an active member of the Danbury Park community in Aurora. He served as the President of the HOA and worked tirelessly to build a strong and caring community.
Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He loved to cook and entertain neighbors, family and friends. He would talk with anyone and always enjoyed chatting with people. Throughout his life, he was passionate about many hobbies and loved to challenge himself with mental puzzles. This grew into a passion for geocaching. He also loved crossword puzzles, Legos, Bob Ross oil painting, playing cards (bridge especially) and cross stitching.
Steve is survived by his wife Joan, son Nickolas (Jyl) Shute, daughter Rachel (Scott) Hughes, grandchildren Andrew (Jennifer) Shute, Robert Shute, Sarah Shute, Jacob Hughes, Eric Hughes and Michael Shute and great-grandson, Matthew Shute.
Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, October 30 at 10:30 am at St Michael the Archangel church located at 19099 E Floyd Ave, Aurora, CO 80013. Due to the current restrictions, the family regrets that we cannot have a reception following the mass. Please do not feel obligated to attend as we understand you may want to celebrate his life in your own way.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are welcome at Friends of St. Andrew 1525 Dallas Street, Aurora, CO 80010.
