Thomas Gerard Durkin passed away peacefully at his home on December 3, 2022 surrounded by his family after a brief cancer battle.
All who knew him welcomed his sense of humor, storytelling, kind heart and easily provoked smile. Tom enjoyed golf, all Denver sports teams, running, and was a master craftsman at his home in Parker, Colorado. He created the best basement hangout in the neighborhood and brought life into the home with plants, fish and way too many Christmas lights. He maintained the most positive outlook throughout his life and was completely devoted to his family.
Born and raised in El Paso, Texas, Tom was the 8th of nine children. He moved to Dallas when he was 20 and lived there until 1991 working as a draftsman. After finishing his Technical Communications Degree at Metropolitan State University, he worked in the cable television industry for 27 years with Jones International, Comcast and Starz Entertainment. In 1995, Tom married Shea Mackin at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church in Denver Colorado. They were blessed with 3 children, Patrick, Ellen and Kelly.
He is survived by his wife, children, siblings George, Lawrence, Deborah Stein, Mary Adele and Augie Goerner, Dennis and Veronika, Gerard, Bridget Moreaux. In-laws Molly and Clyde Dopheide, Jim and Jodi Mackin, Mary and Chris Poppert, Paul and Mori Mackin, Katie and Chuck Buckner, Dan and Nicole Mackin, John and Julie Mackin. 32 nieces and nephews, 20 great-nieces and nephews. He is proceeded in death by his parents, Edward and Adele, brother Pat, sisters-in-law Tommie Ann and Megan.
Funeral Mass will be held at Ave Maria Catholic Church, Parker, CO on December 17 at 1pm
