Obituary
Thomas “Tom” John Morrissey, age 76, died at The Denver Hospice on May 25, 2021. Tom was born and grew up in Carroll, IA and worked at his dad’s store starting at the age of 5 until his early 20s. In 1967, he married the love of his life, JoAnn. During their 54 years of marriage, they lived in Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Colorado while he worked for New York Life Insurance Company. After retirement, Tom spent most of his time volunteering for Douglas County and for Pax Christi Catholic Church. Tom put many hours into serving communion at Skyridge Medical Center and in homes of those who were unable to attend mass. He would spend many hours sitting and visiting with those he served communion to and built many friendships.
He is survived by his wife, JoAnn, their son, Tony (Diane), and two daughters Tricia (Dave) Lawler and Stephanie (Jeff) Grimm, his 6 grandchildren Kayla, Sarah, Drew, Ryan, Jake, and Lauren; brothers and sisters, Rita Spence of Pendleton SC, Mike (Jean) Morrissey of Elkhorn, WI, Sr. Fran, Sr. Mary and Sr.Shirley of LaCrosse, WI, Steve (Mary Kay) of Ankeny, IA, and Veronica (Dick) Heun of Duncombe, IA and sisters-in-law Kay Morrissey of Lee’s Summit, MO, and Beverly Morrissey of Kirksville, MO. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charley and Lois, brothers; Fr. Charles, Mac, and Joe, and sisters; Monica and Sr. Genny.
