Tom Stauffer

Russell Thomas Stauffer “Tom,” age 71, fell asleep in the Lord on Tuesday, August 23, 2022, while battling cancer under the care of his earthly angles from Pikes Peak Hospice at Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs, CO.

Born in Salt Lake City, Utah on March 9, 1951, Tom was raised by Russell H. Stauffer and Carol L. Stauffer along with his siblings Jim Stauffer and Susan Stauffer (Wilson), up until Carol passed away while Tom was still a child. Tom was later blessed to have Nedra Stauffer (stepmother) and Mike Stauffer (stepbrother) join his family.

In addition to his immediate family, Tom had the pleasure of forming strong relationships with grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and future nieces and nephews, whom he adored through to the very end. Tom’s life was forever changed when he married the love of his life, Connie Jean Stauffer (Nicolaides) in 1972. He and Connie lived a life full of adventures and raised two beloved daughters, Tiffany Stauffer (Yant) and Tami Stauffer (Holmberg). Tom was blessed to find the sons he never had in his sons-in-law, Richard Yant and Matt Holmberg, who shared in his love for music, sarcasm, and liquid courage.  Once again, Tom’s life would be forever changed when he acquired the endearing name “Popster” by Tiffany’s daughter Savanna, stepsons, Rich and Joe, and Tami’s daughter, Autumn, who were his pride and joy.

Tom’s endless talents and creativity were evident in his various careers that involved voice/audio production and project coordination in the structural steel industry. Tom’s legacy lives on in his productions (TheTOMCONNIE on youtube) which continue to display his incredible abilities to write, produce, and voice his creative works of art. But more importantly, his gifts were realized in the life he lived, the man he strove to become, the family he loved to no end, and the Lord he adamantly struggled to pursue and embrace.

Tom loved caring for and creating with his granddaughters, classic rock, drumming, hunting, fishing, Native American culture, nature, his brothers and sisters in the Orthodox community. He adored his wife and family, whom he spent an entire lifetime trying to protect. Tom was a storyteller utmost and foremost with a sensitivity to nature, humanity, and the spiritual realm that instantly connected him to anyone he encountered. He had the unique ability to make people laugh and to draw out the light from within the hearts and souls of those who were blessed to know him.

Tom will now be re-united with his beloved daughter (Tiffany), mother (Carol), father (Russell), brother (Jim) and stepmother (Nedra), who among others he cherished, paved his way to entering the heavenly realms.

May his memory be eternal.

Services are open to the public and will be held at 11:30am on Thursday, September 1, 2022, at St. Catherine Greek Orthodox Church in Greenwood Village, CO. After which a Makaria fellowship time with a meal will be provided. Following at 2:00pm, the graveside service will take place at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Castle Rock, CO.
