Wayne Bullard age 95, passed peacefully near family and many friends at Mapleton Care Center in Lakewood, on November 15, 2022. He was born in Wray, CO on November 6, 1927 and grew up on a farm with his parents Steve and Zadie and siblings LeRoy and Phyllis. He graduated from Wray High School and joined the Navy just as WW2 ended. His professional life had many facets including farmer, truck driver, carpenter, salesman, and parts manager. Wayne’s favorite job was the polka dutch hop band he and his wife Pauline had for nearly 60 years. They played for enthusiastic crowds all over Colorado. Wayne also enjoyed playing his trombone in the Jeffco community orchestra.
Everyone Wayne met was an immediate friend. He would strike up a conversation with a stranger everywhere he went. For family it was difficult to get him out of Walmart because he was happy to tell his life story to interested strangers who became new friends everywhere.
Wayne married Lois Busby in 1949, and had two children Larry and Carol. Wayne and Lois started a life in California, but unfortunately Lois’ life was cut short in a car accident in 1958.
Wayne met Georgetta Pauline Reasoner while trying to sell her an organ. Wayne and Pauline married in 1962 making a home in Brush Colorado with Larry, Carol, and Pauline’s two daughters Julie and Patty.
Wayne lost the love of his life his wife Georgetta Pauline in 2021, and missed her everyday until rejoining her on November 15th. He is survived by his son Larry (Elena) Bullard, and daughters Julie (Jerry) Fitzgerald, Carol White, and Patty (Bruce) Rutherford. His family also includes 11 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and 1 great great granddaughter .
He will be missed by his large family and many friends. Funeral service and reception will be at Horan & McConaty at 3101 S. Wadsworth Blvd., Lakewood, CO. on December 6th, 2022 with visitation at 10 am, service at 10:30 am with reception to follow. Interment will be at 2 pm at Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Denver, CO.
