Wayne Leroy Morris of Lakewood, Colorado passed away on October 12, 2022. A Denver, Colorado native, he was born to Helen and Lee Morris on October 22, 1934.
Wayne was a proud member of the United States Navy, serving from 1953-1957. Afterwards he worked for Continental Airlines, retiring after 25 years. Following that retirement, he worked 10 years for the Colorado Historical Museum.
Wayne loved to volunteer! His volunteering included the Arvada Senior Center, The Lakewood Culture Center, the Jefferson County Food Bank, the Paramount Theater, and his Continental Airlines retirement organization (ARECA). Wayne belonged to and participated with the American Legion and the Arvada Lions Club. He loved to stay active with long walks and took joy in swimming as often as he could. Wayne was a fan of the Colorado Rockies, he enjoyed attending games or cheering them on, on the tv. His participation at Holy Shephard Lutheran Church was very meaningful to Wayne. He sang in the Prime Time Choir and regularly ushered.
Wayne took great pleasure in traveling, visiting many states in the United States and touring other countries as well. He enjoyed taking cruises with family and friends. Over Wayne’s lifetime, he owned 13 motorcycles, loved cars and aircraft.
Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Eddie Morris, Gene Morris, Kenneth Morris, his sister Lillian King, daughter Debra Morris, and the mother of his four children, Louise Morris. He is survived by his beloved wife Betty Morris, brother Bob Morris (Laura), sister Norma Patrick, sisters-in-law Dee Morris and Sharon Morris, sons David Morris (Diane), Bob Morris (Marci), Matthew Morris, five grandchildren, and numerous nieces, a nephew and many dear friends.
A Funeral Service will be held for Wayne on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at 11:00am at Holy Shepherd Lutheran Church, 920 Kipling St, Lakewood, CO 80215. Interment will take place at Fort Logan National Cemetery following the service at 1:30pm. For those who wish to attend the Shelter Service at Fort Logan, please meet at Staging Area B no later than 1:15pm.
