A.B. Crabbs of Green Mountain Falls, CO. passed away at his home on August 6, 2012. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Martha Basham Crabbs; two sons, Frank M. Crabbs of Longmont, CO., Monte E. Crabbs of Elizabeth, CO; a daughter, Connie Sue (Sean) O'Donnell of Pagosa Springs, CO.; Seven grandchildren, Shannon (Jason) Von Eschen; Michael, Alan, Daniel, and Joseph Crabbs, Aidan and Annie O'Donnell; and one great grandson, Eli Von Eschen. He is preceded in death by his brothers Richard and Delmer Crabbs. A.B. was born in Hutchinson, Kansas to Frank and Gladys Crabbs in 1927. He attended grade school and three years of high school in Arlington, Kansas. He graduated from high school in Hutchinson. He played the clarinet and saxophone in a band and music was something that he enjoyed throughout his lifetime. A.B. was a veteran of the US Navy and served on destroyers at the end of WWII and in the Korea War. He and his mother opened ABC Grocery in Manitou Springs and in 1956; he and a partner started Southwestern Carpet Contractors. A.B. retired from sales at JCPenny's in 1986. He is remembered for his devotion and love of his family as well as his love of the mountains and baseball.
