Abigail Rae Almer

A woman of beauty, grace and strength, Abigail (Abby) Rae Almer lit up a room with her smile, sense of adventure and laughter. She peacefully passed away from kidney disease in the comfort of her home on Sept. 18, 2012, with her loving family by her side. Those who knew Abby, enjoyed her enthusiasm for life, love, family and art. She always remained the life of the party and had a deep dedication to her husband, siblings, children and grandchildren. The love and steadfast strength that she bestowed upon her family will remain the legacy of the Almer name that will be carried into generations to come. Her amazing talent with the paintbrush has left dozens of watercolor paintings for her family and the world to enjoy. Born on January 28, 1934, she is survived by her husband, four children, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Abigail was raised in Sartell, Minnesota by her parents Godfrey and Elva Anderson. She had two sisters Iris and Beverly and one brother Sheldon Anderson. Iris Anderson and her parents preceded her in death. Abigail met her loving husband Robert (Bob) Almer at St. Cloud Technical High School in 1950 where their journey began. They quickly fell in love and were married on August 31, 1953, in Sartell. The couple moved to Clearwater, Florida where their lives became enthralled in the space industry, as Bob worked for Honeywell designing the space station, while Abby worked at Morton Plant Hospital. After 30 years in Florida, Bob and Abby moved to Highlands Ranch, Colorado to enjoy their retired years with their children and grandchildren -- many of whom live in the Denver metro area. Children listed from oldest to youngest, along with spouses and children; Robert (Carla) Almer, Eric and Brian Almer; Sherry (Andy) Middlemiss, Dominique Flores, Noelle Riley; Mark (Kelly) Almer, Steven and Caitlin Almer; and Mary (Robert) Dicicco, Dale and Rachel Dicicco. Great-grandchildren: Nina Flores and Ryder Diccico Abigail will always be remembered as an extraordinary woman of beauty and love who had an amazing zest for life. Her triumphs and tribulations will always remain alive in the memories of those she dearly loved. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 23 at Horan and McConaty Family Chapel located at 5303 East County Line Road (one block west of South Holly Street) in Centennial, Colorado 80122.
